With all the concours I attended as a spectator and as an entrant, with all the other activities I found time to experience, including an auction or two (where I made an unplanned acquisition), there are two standout, amazing experiences I wasn't expecting but will treasure.

    - Rob & Paul Calisi went way above and beyond to help me resolve a couple problems that cropped up on my multi-Platinum Dino just before it entered Concorso Italiano and the judged FCA Concours. I knew both were great guys from past (remote) interactions with them and from observing how they help other FChatters including their restoration blog. But they took significant time out of their trip to Monterey to make things right that I would likely have screwed up if attempted on my own...wow!

    - Finally getting to meet Matthias after treasuring his book, and the many emails exchanged discussing finer details not in the Compendium while continually trying to improve my M-Series Euro Dino. His over the top willingness to help identify issues to put on the To-Do list, and provide suggestions on finding elusive parts, and his obvious passion for these cars was very impressive. I hope he really enjoyed his first trip to Monterey. He'll likely need to go on holiday after his whirlwind tour!

+1 Sincere thanks to Matthias his presence appreciated greatly by all. I hope that he will attend on an annual basis. Excellent group of Dino's on the FCA showfield.

Great to see Matthias, as always. His enthusiasm is infectious and I know many folks, Dino owners and not really enjoyed meeting and learning from him. Hope to see him in Monterey again!

was a great pleasure to meet you all....
we don`t have anything similar over here in Europe, so I will be back but not on an annual basis...
the FCA, with all their volunteers and passion, is exceptional!
next on the cards might be Cavallino Classic in January...

Ron thank you for the kind words. Paul and I were more than happy to help and your issue was nothing more than a little know-how and a spare bicycle could not fix :)

That day the real treat for us was the drive to your place going against traffic leaving The Quail Lodge. I don't think I will ever see THREE F50's nose to tail in traffic ever again not to mention every other exotic or rare car you could think of just idling away waiting for the road to get moving. This was in stark contrast to the Harbor Freight tools I visited in Salinas that morning to get the tools I would need to expedite the repair. Quite the 'interesting' neighborhood that I was happy to escape unharmed from.

On the subject of what I took away from the week is what a fantastic bunch of people are involved in our car hobby. Not only did we meet a ton of great people, but a number of people we hardly knew came together in a very special way to help sort out a problem we had with the Dino after the shows ended. Without them the dream drive that my Dad and Brother planned along HWY 1 would have never happened and we are eternally grateful for their selfless help. We will chronicle the story in our Dino blog but until then here is an image that was the result of their generosity.

Wonderful tribute, especially since Dad did all the suspension install!

What was the failure that hampered the drive?

    1. Meeting Matthias - What a thrill. A genuinely great guy. Among many things, I will always remember his complimenting, and coming back to take a picture of my original radiator cap and then pretending he was going to pocket it. I smile every time I think of that. Maybe if they had an award for "Best Dino Radiator Cap" I might have won that one.

    2. At the FCA Concours being sandwiched between the Calisi Bros. with their 100 pt Dino GT, and Stan, with his 3300 mile original GTS. It was a wonderfully humbling experience. Beautiful cars and great people.

    3. Meeting HMB-Dino, Synchro, dgt and just so many other outstandingly nice people.

    4. Bought myself a Scagletti Dino parts manual at the Automobilia with Matthias just happening to be standing there at the same time and saying, "Great Condition" manual. I knew then I had to buy it.

    5. Having dinner at the FCA Awards banquet with my wife, and Paul and Enzo Calisi, and seeing Paul (and Rob, not present) getting the award for Best Dino. Very exciting and well deserved.

    6. Communicating with an incredibly helpful Freeman regarding Pebble Beach.

    7. Having my best friend of over 50 years, who sold me my Dino 34 years ago, come to visit in Monterey for 2 days and, with our wives, seeing the Pebble Beach cars in Carmel. Dinners at CasaNova in Carmel and at Old Fisherman Grotto on the Monterey Pier, and a few hours at the track on Friday. Wonderful memories forever.

    8. Just, every moment, an amazing time to have shared with my wife and so many terrific people who, like me, have a love for the Dino.

Life is made of memories. I just made a whole lot more life. Thank you all for sharing your cars and yourselves.

It's the camera and photographer. Lots of cosmetic flaws in person but looks great from 10 feet and behind the wheel!
