I'm not a big Alonzo fan but... he's unhappy at McLaren. We all know he is fast. So what if he went to Ferrari? Could he get the extra performance out of the car like Michael did?

    Just wondering...

He is highly talented, has 2 titles to his respect, is dedicated and would move the team and the car forward. It would be perfect!

PS: And he is my fav driver. :)

    No! :D

If he was put in a Ferrari F1 car, I would stop supporting Scuderia altogether. He's not a true racer IMO. He can never say "You know what, I did badly in this race and I'm going to look into it and improve for next time." Instead he blames his failure on being on a British team. Come on! Ferrari does NOT need him!

Alonso would be a nice addition to Ferrari, and I think he'd have much better chemistry with Massa than Kimmi does.....

but what if Ron Dennis pulls out another one of his brainwashed, robotic winning machines as his replacement??? and he'd be in the second fastest car on the grid, oh noes!!!!

I do not like Alonso, I do not put Alonso in the same category as Schumacher, Senna, even Prost or Lauda. His rookie teammate has proven to be as good, actually better, as Alonso, and frankly, Raikkonen/Massa are still the best choices for Ferrari. Todt admits they have to give them a better car.

Luckily the management at the Scuderia do not like Alonso's arrogance, so I doubt if this ever becomes an issue. If Brawn and Michael would come back, you definetely will not see Alonso at Ferrari, neither has anything kind to say about Fred.

I would think twice about supporting the SF with Alonso as driver.

I think he mistook him for the Miami Heat basketball player. If I remember correctly, that guy is a little taller than Fred.

The name is Rowland. Oliver Rowland.

    You heard it here first.

Brainwashed is not a term I'd use. Coached is a better one and neurologically trained probably closer to the point. McLaren has revolutionized the approach to driver development and I'm sure other teams will follow their lead.

On every post someone has to knock hamilton i want nothing more than the red cars to win but Iam not fickle enough to see a good team with brillant drivers get knocked for doing well. sour grapes as i see it Ron may have it boxed of this year and theres no way hamilton would drive the red car so i say if Alonso is up for grabs bite the bullet and go with it. He has his faults and even if he didnt he d be a so called robot

There are a lot of Ferrari fans on here who are too biased to ever support drivers outside of the Scuderia. Sad but true. Tells you something about their values and their credibility.

What the folks who are dissing non Ferrari drivers are missing is that they actually insult their own team: When Massa wins in Barcelona against the mighty McLarens and beats the two time world champion Alonso it is a much greater achievement than when he beats an idiot driver like Alonso, who doesn't deserve to be champion blablabla.

Only if you respect your opponents, your victories over them are meaningful. A point completely lost on the pink glasses wearing crowd.

LH is the first of many. There was another kid that was in the program with LH. Wesley Graves was his name. Strangly enough i can't find anything on him other than the article after he just signed at 12.

True. And there is currently a big debate within F1 about "the Hamilton effect": How much of his success can be "copied" and reproduced simply because of his special training and how much is purely Lewis.

A lot of folks think the simulator had nothing to do with it: For instance Raikkoenen had it at his disposal but chose not to use it.

Jackie Stewart OTOH said the Lewis training method would have made MS an even more complete driver and package.

It seems like Alonso is the type of driver who doesn't necessarily endear himself to those around him. And with enough Ferrari staff left from the Schumacher era, that could be poisonous to morale. I don't picture Fernando learning all the staffers' names, family situations, etc. and chatting with them. Ferrari is a special outfit, and you have to have more to your arsenal than just being fast. You really need to have that strength of character as well, which seems to be the only consistent knock on Fernando.

    Jack,

I recall the Tifosi in 95 were not happy to lose Alesi, due to his emotions for Ferrari. They felt Michael was too cold and would not fit into the team. But things change, and look at what Michael was able to do. I think Ferrari loves a winner, and if Alonso was in that team, they would go further than they have with this pairing. No offense Ron, but I still think Alonso would have been welcomed to the team with open arms had they known he was available and not poached by RD.

I can well remember that. The Italian press was all over Michael. Remember the former Italian Prime Minister who compared MS to a Nazi Soldier mocking the Italian anthem because Michael "directed" his tifosi from the podium?

The negativity continued as the Ferrari struggled to become competitive. And it was all water under the bridge in 2000. Give them victories and all is forgiven.

Actually, I just found it on another forum. He was kicked off the program eight months later after a losing streak. He'a a part time gardener or something. According to an interview, he's happy that Lewis has made it and there isn't a day that goes by that he doesn't think about what could have been. He didn't actually go through the whole program, only LH has.

It's a pretty sad story actually, apparently his parents live in a council house(anyone know what this is?) because of debt.

Remember how Mansell and Lauda both were "betting the farm" on their F1 entry tickets? It takes gutts...
