Just curious as to what you folks would think....
Everyone here would worship him from the moment he signed for Ferrari, and hed be the best driver EVAR because he had 10 WDC and its statistics that make good drivers. Goes to get popcorn
Did ANYBODY see the amount of success coming that Ferrari has had since 1997 ? Nope. No, what would happen is some would say 'statistically he may be the best, but he had no competition, and is an ass personality-wise'
best car wins...if they have the car, they could certainly bolt him in and he would re-write history. there is always the injury factor. remember that despite having the best car for all those winning years, shumi did manage not to get killed. we have all talked about this before but had senna not met his maker when he did...shumacher would not have 8 wdc's. many variables. pcb
Never saw Alonso being considered by, or going to Ferrari under the current management. Personality and skill, Raikkonen was the only obvious choice. I understand that Alonso was not even approached.
What if catfish had kittens. What if the Pope turned Jewish. What if you looked forward to spending an evening with an insurance salesman. It's not going to happen!
I am not an alonso fan. But I am a ferrari fan. So with your scenario, Ferrari gets a 6-8 more championships... how could I be bothered by that? That said, I'll be cheering on Kimi!
We've been exploring the circumstances under which that might conceivably happen. IF Alonso won a huge number of WDCs with Ferrari ... or anybody, he'd likely have to have matured and gotten his mouth under control. IF he did all that, THEN he might be more popular. Especially if he stops the silly dances on the car. If JPM's "moto-tennis" incident was the beginning of the end of his career with McLaren, what would Dennis say if Alonso slipped off the nosecone and put himself out with a sprained ankle for a couple of races? On the other hand, Kimi doesn't have such a hot safety record on his yatch, either.
For the first time is 40 years, I would have to cheer for another team. I'm a Ferrari fan, but not a fan of FA.
Exactly, that is what I thought when MS went to Ferrari, time to root for another team. Thank god Kimi is at Ferrari, now I can root for Ferrari again.
FA at Ferrari? One word: HEAVEN I was totally disappointed when it was announced that he has signed for the dark side. But eventually he'll get out of that self inflicted purgatory. But until then there is Kimi to root for. And hopefully some other good guys taking the 2nd seat. Folks like Rosberg or Piquet. However I don't see anybody ever to eclipse Michael's record. There are too many good drivers and F1 has become a fast business (which is a good thing) where young talent gets to the podium fast and where guys in their thirties get dropped. DC will be next. Also - and I mean this in a nice way - MS was a "freak of nature". I don't think any other "normal" human being would have the will/motivation/stamina to hang around for so long. Others have his talent, but I dont think there is another driver who would be willing to stick with F1 for that long. As Alan Jones said: "What's the point of making more money? I can't eat golden steaks."
