    JAshburne:

I think I have more than 4 arguments. As for facts: try this: your comment about Gore making the statement that he invented the internet is false. It's a lie that conservatives made up in an attempt to trash him. Check it out on Snopes.com. Let's try that for starters. As to the other comments about trashing the economy: With the 500 billion deficit (mayb e 600 - 700), a substantial amount of people are arguing that its a repeat of the early 70s, when Lyndon Johnson did essentially the same thing. Wild, I think not.

If you truly believe that one looking at Bush's record could not accuse him of absolutely dreadful acts, you are sorely mistaken. Try looking at Clarke's book and his comments about Iraq, and the pre-set agenda, and the confusion (at best) regarding the WMDs, and other claims for the war. Rather than deal with the facts about what he has done, you chose to make a personal attack, again failing to deal with the specifics, because I suspect you don't have facts capabile of doing so,

Arguing with you has a common fault: you apparently don't check the facts, you don't read exactly what was posted, nor do you deal with the specific lanauge of those whose disagree with you. One could say that you're an one with an agenda, and you'll maintain that agenda regardless.

As to my comments on Kerry, or lack thereof, you've apparently forgotten the title to this thread.

Someone had to fill that niche. Would you rather it be Janeane Garofalo? Or even worse, have Babs come out of her Ivory Malibu tower?

SIDENOTE ABOUT BARBRA STREISAND: I have a friend who grew up next door to the queen B. FACT: If ANY of her house servants or menial staff make eye contact with her on the grounds they are FIRED on the spot, without question!

Nice, huh? A true liberal at heart!

You are right Darth, real nice, the case of "do as I say not as I do" with the libs... take (tax) money from all the rich people EXCEPT me that is. I'm sure Martin Sheen took a lot of those homeless guys that he "slept" on grates with to HIS house and fed them with HIS food and let them use HIS shower and sleep in HIS bed! Yeah right! Let's see how you did this time, Art:

" try this: your comment about Gore making the statement that he invented the internet is false. It's a lie that conservatives made up in an attempt to trash him."

    Answer Category 4

First of all, it was a picayune comment not central to the issue being discussed. You chose to ignore the main point, which was how come Gore, if he is so much smarter than Bush, failed to recognize the growing terrorist threat during 8 years in office.

Nevertheless, here are Al Gore's actual words from his 1999 interview with Wolf Blizter on CNN:

"During my service in the United States Congress, I took the initiative in creating the Internet. I took the initiative in moving forward a whole range of initiatives that have proven to be important to our country's economic growth and environmental protection, improvements in our educational system. "

I will grant you that the whole issue at the time was overblown because of another election year, but the words "I took the initiative in creating the Internet." are irrefutable no matter how much backtracking and clarification followed. Conservatives didn't put those words in his mouth, or was that also part of a "vast right wing conspiracy"?

Answer Category 1 ( and a bit of Category 2):

What are economic qualifications of your "substantial amount of people"? Again, economic experts working on the Kerry campaign don't count.

Wall Street Journal of April 14, 2004 reported on increasing number of analysts and economic forecasting groups that are raising their projections of economic growth, all named. A separate article same date cite consensus estimates of FY2004 budget deficit as "drifting down for several months now" as the strong performance of the economy increases expected tax revenues. Wrightson ICAP expects that the median estimate (across several respected groups) to be "closer to $400 billion than $500 billion by the time the month is over".

Where did you pull $700 billion from? As long as we are speculating on future events, I would prefer to know the qualifications and credentials of your estimates.

BTW, LBJ was president in the 60's, not that my agenda would prevent me from allowing you to think that the economy of the 70's (which was not caused by budget deficits) was caused by a Democratic president (Congress maybe, but not a democratic president). Who is weak on fact checking?

    Answer Category 4:

I asked you to support your charge accusing Bush of "fraud, murder..." Clarke's book has been shown to be rife with inaccuracies, emotional feelings disguised as facts. Are you saying that a president who sends an army to war becomes a murderer when the first soldier is killed in action?

    Answer Category 3

I am waiting to deal with the facts about what Bush has done to "destroy the American economy" and the other crimes that you allege. Asking for those facts from you does not, in my opinion, constitute a "personal attack", although that is your tactic. Sort of following the "best defense is a good offense" strategy.

"As to my comments on Kerry, or lack thereof, you've apparently forgotten the title to this thread."

    Answer Category 4

My observations were based on your comments throughout this thread, which, if I recall, had only one of your posts (the Gore Fantasy sequence) dealing with the title of the thread. Your other posts have focused on how badly Bush is doing, what a criminal he is, his campaign tactics, how Kerry is leading in some polls etc. A similar diversion off the topic to discuss socialism in Denmark proceeded largely in a civil manner and stayed on point before being tied back into the Gore thread by talking about the similarities between Denmark's high taxes and massive welfare system and Gore's philosophy toward the role of government.

So far your answers are keeping true to form. I anxiously await your next application of Categorical answers.

You're batting 1.000 so far. I think that we have taken this thread about as far as we are able.

I'll let your arguments, be they out of date (GAO budget estimate from last year), blind to the quotes ("I took the initiative in creating the internet") or just merely your beliefs on issues that have yet to be proven ("fraud") stand by themselves for anyone who is still reading this thread to judge for themselves.

My frustration with you, Art, is that you are like a drive-by shooter: you fire some wild allegation from the hip (before you launch into apoplexy about this personal attack, sometimes, not always) and then drive onto some other topic from left field without supporting your original argument.

I have accepted in my heart that you and I have some significant philosophical differences that likely will never be resolved. You believe that Bush is a criminal and that Gore would have been better at dealing with the terrorist threat and the economy, I don't. You believe that Kerry will be a better president. We will see in November.

I will graciously grant you the last word,

    John
