For fun, suppose every Ferrari regardless of year or model cost $100,000. Every Ferrari would cost $6000 a year to maintain, $500 per month. No matter how rare or non-rare a specific model is, it would only be worth the same $100,000 plus COLA for the time you owned it.

My objective here is to do away with economic issues, whether they be economic reality of not being able to afford your favorite Ferrari or your quest to make money on a Ferrari as an investment.

Which Ferrari would you choose? Why?

For me it would be the 275 GTB/C Speciale as seen on pg 92 of Forza Nov 05. A close second would be the 1984 288 GTO.

Wouldn´t it be easier if you´d just asked what every one´s favourite Ferrari is?

Mine is the 400 Superamerica (with covered rearwheels).

But ask me again sometime next week, and I probably name some other type.

    Do away with economic issues?
You have just made my Ferrari unaffordable!
When I bought my car, aside from the fact that I thought it was one of the sexiest cars out there, I purchased it knowing that I could service it myself,
and that compared to other Ferraris, it was a very economical Ferrari to own.
Why would I want to spend $6k a year just for maintenance?

Thanks for the picture NNO. I think this is the most perfect GTO. Each one was a little different than the next and so I think this one is the most pleasing to look at. Not that any of them is ugly though.

I think that unless it is specifically stated no economics, many people allow economics to play a role in their decision. Is a person's favorite truly a Daytona or are they saying that because in the back of their mind it has economic upside in twenty years? I felt that removing any financial aspects upfront would allow people to speak more freely in regards to choice, that is all. As was witnessed in the late 1980s, speculation of appreciation has garned some models more valuable than others and I just did not those type of issues clouding the decisions of this thread.

Then how about "if you had all the money in the world, and you could only have one, which Ferrari would you want?"

Mine would probably be a 250/275LM; preferably the ex-Joe Rosen car.

    288 GTO.

Just a note: if all Ferraris cost $100,000, there'd be a lot less owners. That just priced out most V8s before the 360, many of the 2+2 V12s, most of the Testarossa line, the early 550s....

Testarossa. ANY kind, any year.... I would be MORE THAN happy with it. It is truly my DREAM CAR. There is nothing out there that is more of a recognizable, beautiful, piece of art than that.

And I would be happy as a pig in mud since I wouldn't have to worry about something catastrophic happening!!! I would just drive the SNOT out of it!!!
