Ok, MS has proven his point for past 5 seasons, no argument, he is a great driver. But imagine if MS retires next season? I doubt Ferrari would be as dominant in every race even with RB and whoever fills MS' shoes. I would love to see the next tier of drivers mix it up every race.

I predict it could be a competitive run for the WDC between RB, KR, JPM, JB, FA......it would be nice going into every race without any one dominant team or driver. RB will win a few races, but I highly doubt he will dominant the way MS has, now that would be a joy to watch.

they do mix it up every race and Rubens has beat them for the most part. This is why he is second in the championship, I think your beef should be the others should change their ways in order to improve and beat ferrari, it should be clear to everyone, it takes more than money, more than a great driver, more than a great car, more than great mechanics, it takes a team and ferrari's team gets it right

Why?! I am happy that I am witnessing the greatest driver ever driver the greatest car ever. Some people just can't swallow their egos and respect greatness. It is a free world. Anyone is welcome to follow F1. No one is forcing you to watch F1. If you think F1 is boring right now or not exciting go follow some other motorsport.

On to Spa and more Ferrari victories!

Good call Imperial... MS is a great driver? What!?! Regardless of what ifs, if you're looking at F1 MS is the best there has ever been. If you want to contemplate, go watch WWF or some soap operas. Don't bring up different times or given the right equipment or how unfair it is he has what others don't. MS built up his team, got everyone involved, the morale of that teams bleeds Ferrari paint not blood. No one lead people like Todt or Byrne over to Ferrari at gun point.

I agree that F1 needs a change, but can't fault a guy who is doing the best of a challenge that was laid out before him and everyone else. The cry for Schuey to retire is retarded, in the same sense a little momma's boy would cry "no fair" when he got beaten in baseball after inviting the older neighborhood kids over. Want to win, get better and build up a decent challenger!

As per current contract, Michael retires at end of 2006 season. So you will have to be a little more patient! And yes the racing will be closer but I will miss Michael then. As far as I am concerned all of todays WDC hopefuls were not able to win the WDC in Michael's era...

Strangely enough there is always some tension for me this year - will Michael win this race or not. Will the sequence of wins end...

Every time he slows done ... particularly after the last pit stop or so, I am in agony .. did he slow down because of a problem or is he coasting to the finish line. :D He has gone 51 races without a mechanical failure and I always think that his luck will run out this race.

Last year was entertaining particularly due to Bridgestone tyre deficiency for miost of the season and a few mistakes from Michael in the beginning three races that allowed the others to catch up.

This year the Ferrari is awesome in all circuits, the tyres are phenomenal in the wet, dry, cold, heat, whatever... And Michael has not made any glaring mistakes at all. There isnt a chink in the armour .... So what can you expect.

2005 will be more competitive only if the other teams find some sort of car advantage over Ferrari.

Watch F1 for seeing a master school the rest of the drivers. Watch WRC or Speed GT for close competition ...

Relax guys, it was just a hypothetical under the scenario if MS was not racing next year. No one is saying MS is not a tremendous driver.

In fact, I don't think anyone currently is at his talent level. It's like having Randy Johnson pitch to college players.

Did you guys see the HeadLine in Newsweek? (or was it Time?)

    "Speed Kills!"

Then it goes on to say-
"MS's speed is killing F1" the ratings are dropping. Seems not everyone is a Ferrari fan.

Not an easy job to sell $1,000,000.00 ad spots for the last 5 events of the year... the race is already over.

I love watching MS. To me it is anything but boring. It's completely amazing.

Kinda like Mike Tyson in his heyday. I never enjoyed watching boxing more since then.

Why retire when you are kicking ass and taking names. Should Lance Armstrong retire?

I would like to see Ruebens bring it though!!!

    I love Ferrari and F1

How would F1 be more interesting if MS leaves? There would still be very few passes. Look all the way down the line. There isn't much passing anywhere. I can't understand people who think 1 driver is to blame for this. Because no one person is to blame. If you take MS out of the last race, how would that make the race more interesting? It wouldn't. Bored people have boring threads.

Maybe if we used an example to remove the Ferrari colored glasses, that some on this web-site veiw the world through.

If JPM had won all the races for the last 4 years... how exceited would you guys be to see him leave?

60% of F1 fans don't like MS or Ferrari. So for every guy that loves to watch MS beat the rest of the field by the middle of the very first lap. Its not much fun for most of the World.

30 years from now historians of motor racing will be lauding the MS era as one the greatest ever. We get to see it happening.
Regardless of your affiliation and likes or dislikes, what MS and Ferrari are doing is outstanding and , to this point in time, unique.
Frank Williams, in a short interview after the race in Hungary said that the Ferrari victory and their record this year was "simply brilliant." If a major competitor can make that observation, I can't see why all of the killjoys on this forum who decry MS's performance, can't see it the way Frank Williams does.

My point was, it wouldn't make anything more exciting. You would be cylcling though the order, just a new driver winning, not anything different on track.
Yes MS has fans, but you can't say 60% don't like him. Maybe 60% want a new champ. And if he has 40% of the fans, which is very possible, then it's better he win everything then a less popular driver. I as a Ferrari fan love this era. I can see how it should change too. It isn't great for the sport. But I guess it will give new drivers somthing to shoot for. Breaking records is always fun and good, even if the overall picture is shady.

    I see your point.

I just miss the days, when you didn't know who was going to win the race.
And you knew there would be 2 or 3 great drivers doing battle wheel-to-wheel.

    We don't have this now.

IMAGINE THE JOY if Scuderia and Michael Schumacher WIN AGAIN in 2005 and 2006 and 2007 and 2008!!!!
    :D

The solution is simple. Think F1 is boring? Lost interest? Do not watch races anymore? Ok, then go follow some other motorsport.

Exactly, I like the current cars and I like the way F1 is at the moment. I am enjoying F1 after waiting for so long for Ferrari dominance. Almost two decades of wait makes the current dominance of Ferrari very welcome.

If some of the so called "old fans" don't like F1 or they think F1 is too boring now, no one is forcing them to watch F1. Go follow Cycling or something. No one cares about their constant whinning.

I prefer unpredictable races. This season has been very predictable, at least as far as the first position is concerned.

MS is fantastic, but I'm getting a bit tired of his wins. Senna and Prost were fantastic, but after a few seasons I was hoping somebody new would come along.

It's not that I don't like MS, it's just that once in a while I'd be happier to see somebody else win. Right now it's kinda like eating your favourite dessert all the time. How about some soup or Zucchini for a change?

I guess aside from being a Ferrari fan, I'm mostly a fan of the underdog. MS was my hero in his Benetton years and up until he clinched the title with Ferrari for the first time. Now I'm feeling a strange inner split: As much as I like to see Ferrari win, I'm really cheering for the other guys, be that Alonso, Button or whoever can upset the predictability.

Does it surprise any of you who the author of the thread is? Mr. Bond can not wait until JPM wins again!!! Juan keeps saying he wants to beat MS before he retires to prove he is the best there ever was.........That was a statement from ....hmmm 3 years ago? Oh, and 2 years ago. And don't forget last year and this year. Yawn....I think this year he also said that MS will retire soon because he knows I will beat him. I think the only thing MS is worried about with JPM is a dark tunnel. 20 years from now they will be talking about MS winning all but one race in 2004, Now who was that idiot who took him out at Monaco? Yup, JPM will definately go down in history for his "accomplishment". Sorry Chris, but you will be waiting a long time for that train to come in. And all of Mark(study)'s posts are critical of Ferrari and MS, what a surprise that he jumped on board too. You guys keep this board jumping, but don't you get tired of being proven wrong? ;0)

I can not speak for anyone else, but I have and will always have loads of respect for ANY driver or team who wins a championship. Why? Wins are SO rare and Championships are like finding Jaguar's diamond at Monaco. That is what makes this run so special. Those of use who remember the lean years really appreciate this time. The red cars have always been my favorite team through good times and bad - mostly bad! However, many of my favorite drivers over the years have been scattered throughout the grid. I thought MS was special after his first race. When he moved to my favorite team it was like the planets aligned! I am not looking through Ferrari red colored glasses because I can make the distinction between average and great across all the teams, and these are exceptional times! I've said this before and I will probably bore you all again. My daughter is 8 and probably knows more about the current drivers and teams than I do. Next year I will be taking her to Indy so she can witness this great Ferrari team in action. That way 20, 30, 40 years from now she can tell her kids or husband that she saw a special time in F1 history. MS retire? I will really need the No-doze when that day comes. I join Imperial in his excitment and passion for this incredable performance!
