I think it's a supercar from what I have found online. Anyone have the mojo of this car in a nutshell? Dauer 962LM is a race car? I have never heard of it before now. http://www.*************/PicFetch?pic=1994_dauer_962_lemans-2.jpg
0-60 in 2.6 seconds. That's all i needed to know when i first heard about the Dauer. Also, i believe the Sultan owns 2(?)... One black, one red... Maybe a yellow one, i'm not sure... They're beautiful cars; the Porsche 962 is my favorite of all Porsches...
http://www.962lm.com/index2.htm Here's their site. This "street" car won the 24 hours of LeMans "overall" in 1994......much to the consternation of the ACO. The Porsche factory collaborated with Mr. Dauer to the extent that they have never done before with Ruf or anyone else. It truly is a remarkable, rare and expensive vehicle......worthy of every penny you'd spend. Sort of an "unnofficially" sanctioned factory street version...if you get my drift. Porsche was pissed at the ACO for changing the rules at LeMans, so they did this project to stick it back to them........heh.
Possibly. But it is completley undrivable as a normal car imo. There was an article in EVO about it. The McLaren would beat it for everyday driveability
Well.....using the Dauer 1994 LeMans results, compared to the 1995 McLaren F-1 GTR BMW results when Porsche did not enter this car, I would say yes....easily in fact. Dauer Porsche 962LM......344 laps completed......4,678 km McLaren F-1 BMW.....298 laps completed.......4,058 km
Who cares about the street? I'm talkin' bare knuckles, flexed bicepts and teeth clenched! Raciiiiiiiiiiiiing!
See, now, i saw a show on Speed Vision some time ago about the street-legal 962 and it was almost Benz-like civilized... 7 speed manual gearbox that could be switched to an automatic when in traffic and the whole nine; maybe i'm thinking of something else... Can anyone confirm this...?
ON this website we talk about pedigree and heritage, this thing has it leaking out the exhuast pipe! its a LM car, not even barely converted!!!
Well......the Dauer 962LM meets the European Economic Community (EEC) emission standards as well as the TUV safety standards. I might add that both were more stringent than the US reg's at the time IIRC. Read their website....oh yee non-believers of little faith....chuckle.
article. Not scanned by me (big, 5mb aprox. each): http://s90720894.onlinehome.us/Dauer/article 1.bmp http://s90720894.onlinehome.us/Dauer/article 2.bmp
I'm stuck with dial up for a while and can't download the article or Dauer's brochure... how much $$? Are they still taking orders?
That might just be my favorite EVO issue!!... other then the lastest special Ferrari issue of course The street legal racers throughout the years like the XKSS and the 2.8 RS are marvelous cars.
Ryan.... They were a million USD back when they were introduced. The website leads me to believe you can still get one.
