1990 348 TS 18k miles Services up to date Exterior 9/10 Interior 8/10 (Center console is worn) Just need an appoximate number Also I have a 2007 Corvette Convertable. I would be getting rid of this car for the F-car. Do you think i will end up regretting that decision
you will definately regret it, you should keep the vette !! Now tell me where this "TS" is so I can have a PPI done on it !!!
Realistically the car should be around $50k. You will get a few people on here saying $35k. Maybe offer the $35k buyers the opportunity to make some money by giving them a split of anything under say $42k they can buy a good car for. If the car can be bought for $35k, then they can make a quick $3500. HuskernTexas has gotten the best deal I have heard of recently at $36k for a good car needing service. If you can get a good 348 for under $45k I think that is a real bargain. Major service, while important, should not be a deal breaker. Records, in my opinion, are more important. BT
$45K, if it's red or black, and assuming a private seller, and assuming 'services up to date' means a document major service by a reputable Ferrari tech in the last year or so. If it's something else, then some number slightly lower than $45K. If it's metallic puce, then some number way below $45K. And ditch the Corvette. You can always get another one. Although I hate to think of the depreciation hit you're going to take - so that might be a reason to keep it. Hopefully you're not expecting the 348 to replace the Chevy as a daily driver - extremely different cars.
I have a Mercedes E350 as my DD. The vette is a toy but i do drive it about 3 days a week and have out 3k miles on it since i bought it is August new. I think i am going to wait a year or two most likely, the dealer i found this car at wants 57 and will come odwn to 52 but that looks to be high. Also I can't keep the benz the vette and the Ferrari something would have to go. I just am finishing up my MBA at Emory and shelled out 78k for that this year and 30k for a wedding. While i am debt free outside of my mortgage I have a feeling i might worry about maintenance too much on an older Ferrari. I was looking at this as a possible starter ferrari. I do not care for the 328, i like the 355 but think they are overpriced for what you get. The 348 seems to fill a spot in the market. I guess i need some more seat time. It's a pretty big drop in performance from my 2007 vette to the 348 but its a much different driving experience in a good way. I would love a 360 Spyder but i just can't afford one right now. I am afraid if i buy the 348 it will just be to buy a ferrari, not because it's the car i want. Anyone here "settled" and regretted it??
Four months back, I bought a 15K mile 91 TS with recent 30K service. Its exterior and interior was in 9.5+/10 condition. It has decent history and some nice cosmetic upgrades. I paid $51k for it from a dealer. A '91 is worth about $1-2K more than a '90 IMO. A similar difference between a 91 and 92 car as well. So far no regrets buying my car or paying a lot for it. I am very happy with the 348 as you would be with it. The 348 is more visceral than a Corvette for sure. Best of luck.
Here's my "unofficial" price guide for fair market value. A bargain would be anything below, a premium would be anything above. 1990 Red, Black, or Yellow 348 TS with fewer than 30K miles but more than 15K miles in above average condition with a comprehensive 30K service in the last 18 months: $50K base FMV deduct $1K for 1989 deduct $2K if you're buying from September through February 15th (I call this the Ferrari shoulder season) add $1K for 1991 add $2K for 1992 deduct $3K if TB deduct $7K if no 30K service or cheap one deduct $1K if no toolkits or books/manuals deduct $1K if it needs new tires deduct $1K for edgy interior deduct appropriate amount to repair any body parts (dents, chips, etc.) deduct $5K if a color other than red, black, yellow (this always offends people but it's true - sorry ) add $10K if model is "especiale" add $1000 if it has a tubi add $1500 if it has 355 rims If this doesn't make you dizzy nothing will. Seriously, I don't think this formula will miss FMV by much. My game has always been to find one WAY BELOW FMV. For me it's half the fun. Then again, the only way you do that is by finding a motivated seller. But there is ALWAYS a motivated seller out there somewhere. You just have to find him!
^ Excellent price breakdown. I ran my car thru your list and it tallies up correctly. You may want to add the mileage factor. I think the 50K price reflects a 20K mile car. Maybe $0.1/0.2 per mile deduction for every mile above 20k.
So guys, help me. What is mine worth? 65K, good list of records. Tubi, 355 wheels, carbon trimmed interior. Maybe I can find someone to trade out my "nice pieces" for standard pieces and drop the price $4K? All I want is the $45K I paid for it before I spent $10K fixing everything. Do you have the stock interior pieces? You can sell the cf ones you installed. The accessories, although a good choice, do not raise the value on the car. Same with the wheels. Put the stock ones on and sell the 355 wheels for $2500, sell em fast at $2k
I'm thinking that this will be the only way I can get $45K for it. If anyone wants the pieces I have trade me your stock pieces and make me an offer.
Did you consider selling/consigning to Steve at Sport Auto? They are a great dealership with a large following
He!!, I really don't care anymore. The selling of this great car has really left a bad taste in my mouth. It has brought down my F-Car experience. Although I love the car, I just don't have time for it anymore. I don't think I have even driven it this year...
I think you should expect to get $45K at the least. I believe you had a recent 30k service right. husker's data is good start. Worst case: 50K base price + 1K for 91 + 2.5K for 355 wheels + 1K for Tubi - 9K for excess mileage @ $0.2 mile over 20K = $45.5k floor price Best case: 50K base price + 1K for 91 + 2.5K for 355 wheels - 4.5K for excess mileage @ $0.1 mile over 20K = $50k ceiling price I would stay firm @ $45K. Warm weather is coming up. It will sell for sure soon.
Anything north of 50K miles on these cars is an absolute killer. That's why there are so many with less than 30K miles on them ! ?? Truth be known, I believe the vast majority of the 348s running around have anywhere from 50-100K on the clock, but shrewd (and dishonest) owners figured out a long time ago that the mileage could be "frozen" in a matter of about 5 minutes, by either messing with the speedo sender a bit, or simply pulling out the speedometer fuse. But as the old saying goes, "perception is reality".
Good point, I always wondered how there were so many 348 cars that just sat in the garage and hardly ever driven for 15 or 16 years...
That being said why does anyone put such a high "value" on miles if they can be manipulated so easily ???? Should not a buyer look for a car in good "mechanical" order and be suspiscious of an inordinately "low mile" car??? Sorry, these "low mile" subjects get my goat .
Being an owner of a silver 348, I don't think I would deduct 5k for the color. Maybe green or some off color but silver actually makes the car look very modern. It sounds like I was offended... well maybe a little. LOL Image Unavailable, Please Login
I don't think you should take the mileage claims as absolute. Check the car over and see if it looks like a 16k mile car if that is what has been claimed. I know my 26k mile car looks to be in much better condition than some that I have seen pictures of that have 20k miles. The service history also will help to verify the mileage. I can trace a pretty realistic line through the service receipts that shows the mileage to be accurate on my car. That said, I don't think 50k miles is very much on a 15 year old car. BT
