I would say it should be in the $28-$32k range (the lower end if it is not a convertible). The 85 is pretty low maintenance as Ferraris go, but they all require a fair amount of attention. The Ferrari is not like a Toyota, leave it sit for 6 months, turn the key and go... Read about the issues here using the search button at the top of the page with terms like "85 mondial"
    Good luck.

Nice off color QV coupes go for less than $28k all the time. If you want a coupe you can even get a nice 3.2 off color under $30k.

Someone on the board here has a nice looking black 3.2 mondial cab asking $25k. I assumed that the car being at a dealer with clean carfax, and good appearance would be looking for around $35k. If you can get into a good Ferrari for under $30k with fairly low mileage that is a good deal. I looked at cars.com yesterday and saw almost nothing (Ferrariwise) worthwhile for under $30k.

This is especially important (pre-purchase inspection) because you said the car has no service records. With no records, you need to get the inspection to see what's wrong, and you have to assume it's due for a major service, which is a $3K-$4K deal. Make sure you budget that as part of the price.

And don't have it inspected at that Cadillac dealership - get an independent Ferrari mechanic to have a look. Figure $400-$500 including compression/leakdown tests - to make sure the engine is sound.

As much as that may have hurt to hear, you made the correct choice.

There are plenty of good Mondis out there, and if you are looking to jump in the saddle, start by doing plenty of research here for the things to "look for" and avoid... Spend a couple months learning, then buy. Like previously mentioned, these aren't Toyotas. A poorly chosen purchase will at least cost you thousands in the long run, and at most, a nervous breakdown.

You have to have the passion...

Exactly. Every time you go look at a Mondial you'll be better able to separate the good ones from the dogs.
