    What the hell is this PPI i keep hearing about, i own 3 ferrari's, and have never heard of this when buying one, i bought 2 of them new, and one used.

    so what is this, i searched, but it just came up with 1000 threads with the word PPI in it, not explanation.

    When i bought my used one i got a Ferrari independent mechanic to check it out...is that the same thing...im lost???

    PPI = Pre-Purchase Inspection

    Basically having the car looked over in detail by an independent to make sure there is nothing wrong ... exactly what you did with your used one. :)

    What Z0RR0 said but it doesn't have to be an independent, PPI can be performed at a dealer. I had a PPI on an NSX I was buying from an individual performed at a dealer, it didn't check out. :(

    I think that Zorro meant independant meaning someone not involved in the sale of the car. For example if you bought your car from ABC Imports you would not want ABC to do the PPI.

    Exactly...

    And on a used Ferrari - especially one with some years or miles under its belt - a key component of any solid PPI is a compression and leakdown test. Taking the car to "Joe Blow's Garage" to have the car put up on a lift while a mechanic stands underneath, looking up while scratching his head, and saying, "Everything looks okay from down here..." is *not* a PPI.

    A PPI (short for PeePee I) is a term used to discretely decribe a urinary tract disorder or the name of the girl that gave you the UTI.

    PPI = Pretty Pathetic Italian (one who drives a Japanese scooter, not a Ferrari).

    I guess I can can see having a PPI, compression test done on a turbo, supercharged, or raced car. What else is it good for but to spend $500 or so on an average well maintained street Ferrari?

    Are you serious? Ferrari's are from cheap to repair. A PPI will allow you to see what repairs may need to be made or what may need to be changed shortly. If I had a dollar for every person that had their ass saved from a PPI, I'd buy an Enzo.

    A PPI saved me approx $10K from purchasing a Low Mileage "Mint" condition 355 Spider from Excell Motors :mad:
    Looks & Pics are deceptive !
    You need a F-Car Expert to thoroughly check out EVERYTHING prior to Purchase. This Mint Spider had a recent Major & still miserably failed its PPI.
    The Cheapest Investment you'll ever make.
