My friends, today I have suffered the ultimate offence, one of my FMates has informed me that my beautiful RED 575M is NOT a Ferrari Supercar. How interesting. Well, please help me, what makes constitutes a supercar? Price, scarecity, specification, speed, what is it? Please define the word 'Supercar' The definition has to be both credible and easily understood in common Thesauruses since it will be submitted to be included in the 2006 Oxford English Dictionary of modern language. This is Vanilla. (What the h3ll does that mean?) D11VE:J
Have you got any harder ones? Clearly, a Supercar is a car that prompts a bystander to say "oooh, that's a super car" when you drive on by. 575 is supercar royalty and your friend is poorly educated.
I can tell you what isnt a supercar anything with less than 12 cylinders and with the engine in the front
I have a book which defines all cars that can travel in excess of 150mph as supercars - think it might be a little out of date! The pic on the back is of a 288 GTO which probably just about creeps in to supercar status I reckon! I think supercars in the true sense of the word are cars which stretch boundaries and are produced aside from the 'mass' produced cars, even from marques such as Ferrari, Porsche and Lambo, often for a specific purpose. The Enzo, F50, F40, 288, Daytona (in its day) are supercars, the 328, 355, 360, (yes even the) Testa, etc are all wonderful cars but not supercars in the same sense. The 996 turbo is a fab car - the Carrera GT is a supercar. Mclaren F1 - supercar Jag XJ220 - supercar Veyron if it ever happens will be a supercar in the truest sense. The Murci is a supercar, Countach in its day I think was a supercar, Gallardo is a great car. My opinion - worth at least 2p to me - might be worth less to you but it's mine and I'm keeping it!
150MPH is nothing these days though. I could stick a supercharger on the Megane and push out to 150+ and the car wouldnt constitute as a supercar. A supercar is something different from the everyday car. It has angles - curves, a howling engine, the "DID YOU SEE THAT" factor? A car that once you have seen it on the road, you talk about it at lunch that night. And quite rightly, as Mr P says - a car that is wide enough to consume 2 disabled car parking spots
Not yet a super car is a raw car with a clutch gearbox and NO electronic driving aids like traction control f1 gearbox computers ect i dont class a enzo as a super car it has that many electronic driving aids on it that my granny could drive it flat out they are made for rich people who cant drive a proper car
How predictable ! I do agree with Stevef that the real supercars were/are ones that are really raw, have minimal driver aids, look OTT and you remember them forever. 12 cylinders or less, back or front who cares (other than Steve) its the package that counts. IMHO
im so bored of this, it really is ridiculous ! Micheal Schumacher cant drive and a Ferrari Enzo isnt a supercar - i think i've heard everything now. I shall leave you to your opinions, im not interested anymore.
Reggie don't let him get to you ! He does it on purpose and the more you bite the more he winds you up. I happen to know that at heart he is actually a flat 6 lover
On Ferrarichat the Super Ferraris section is for 288GTO/F40/F50/Enzo. I would agree that they are real supercars. I wouldn't class any other Ferrari as a supercar.
SteveF, give up the boring 12 cylinder stuff; get yourself off on holiday to that place in TR's email
fat boring "one chain of thought, even though its wrong" pie lover, who wont even race an impreza ha ha ha
