Fernando Alonso says there is no need for an FIA official to be stationed in the McLaren garage to ensure fair play between himself and Lewis Hamilton in this weekends world championship showdown. The governing body announced last week that it would appoint a special scrutineer to monitor McLarens actions at the title-deciding race, after the Spanish motorsport federation raised concerns that Alonso might not be given the same treatment as Hamilton due to his strained relationship with the team. But the Spaniard, who is bidding to win a hat-trick of titles, said in Thursdays press conference at Interlagos that the FIAs intervention was unnecessary. I dont agree with the decision but its not up to us, he said. Sir Jackie Stewart said earlier this week that he did not see why the FIA needed to involve itself in the way in which a team, which has purchased a licence to compete at considerable expense, chooses to conduct its business. Alonso appeared to agree, saying: We dont need anything like that in the garage. It is understood that Alonsos outspoken concerns about his tyre pressures in both Japan and China was the catalyst for the FIAs decision. But in Brazil he played down the idea that there was anything untoward involved. In China I was disappointed with my qualifying performance, especially since I was quick in Q1 and Q2 but not in Q3, he said. I have realised that the tyre pressures were a bit high and I just want to think that it was a coincidence and a bit of bad luck. From ITV Seems to me the whole thing is a conflict that's got way out of hand ,I don't know what to believe anymore where FA is concerned . One thing I do Know is the Frickin FIA should just butt OUT of team business..
it could all just BS. someone's just making up a story here. so what about appointing a spy? is he gonne make Hammi slower on the track?
A lot of us here we have this attitude of "Let's go racing and see who wins!" Nothing wrong with that, but to guys like Fernando winning is everything. Alonso IMO is doing this to put as much pressure as possible on Lewis Hamilton. And of course there's the off chance that Mclaren might even give him an actually advantage over Hamilton just shut him up. He wants every tiny little advantage he can get. So no matter what they say or didn't say, in the end it will always come down to what happens on the track.
Like I said in another thread, I don't think he will try and take out anyone unless he has no chance of winning the WDC late in the race. If he DOES try and deliberately take someone out, he should be banned from F1 for life!
If McLaren wants to sabotage FA's car, we can all rest assured they will be able to easily do it right under the noses of ANYBODY. And if you can control a cars' telemetry remotely, that's the easiest way to do it - change the timing, or mixture, something easy, blow it up, and turn it back. Easy.
Niki's getting a little wacky but he feels he has nothing to loose so says what he wants. For sure there is truth in these words. Having FA on your team is the equivelent of having a time bomb.
