Today the YouTube creator Schmee150 (real name Tim Burton) posted up a report of his trip to St. Moritz for an event called "The ICE." (Link here.) Participants bring their crazy rare collector cars to a race oval laid out on a frozen lake to enjoy some tail out oversteer driving. At about 21 minutes into the video Schmee shows a number of the cars cutting donuts at the exit area. The miscreants include the driver of this sports prototype Ferrari. Schmee is very knowledgeable about the late models, but is weak on the oldies, and does not identify this model. I know Ferrarichatters can do this in their sleep. So what is it?

It is #0294AM, originally a 340MM with Touring Barchetta coachwork. Crashed by Hans Ruesch in late 1953 it was returned to Ferrari where it sat for two rears until Chinetti offered to buy the car and pay for its repairs. By this time Ferrari were partnered with Pininfarina for road car coachwork and Scaglietti for their racing car coachwork so it was sent to Scaglietti for their latest style, after the front tubes were sorted. Hence why a 1953 Ferrari looks like the 1955 750 Monza/ 118LM/ 121LM! Now in very long term Italian ownership

The use of the word miscreants was entirely tongue in cheek. I very much appreciate and admire the owners of these super rare machines taking them out for such adventures. And if you watch Schmee's video (again at the 21 minute mark) you will see that the donut cutting in the exit area was spontaneous, likely a bit more risky than some of the other owners would have preferred, and I expect was quashed pretty quickly by the organizers.

No way was it "quashed pretty quickly" by the organizers. Adults are simply enjoying their cars and having fun!
