Close, Bill!!! it's my 1963 AC V8 prototype. Photo was taken in 63 in front of AC cars in Thames Ditton, UK
Thanks Miltonian. It's one of one, known as chassis no MA200. it was designed to replace the ACE, but never went into production since caroll Shelby kept buying aces. Space frame, all alloy body, 289 ford power, zf 5 speed box, inboard rear discs. heres the interior. Image Unavailable, Please Login
That is the most interesting automobile I have seen in some time. Who did the body design? In-house? Pictures of the front and rear, please!! Edit: It must be by Pietro Frua, right?
Thanks, I think so too. It was designed in house by AC engineer Majiewski, (hence the chassis number "MA" 200) a polish engineer who used to design MIG fighters. heres a pic of the front with AC chairman Derek Hurlock. Image Unavailable, Please Login
Doing a quick Google search I found a reference to a 5-page article on this car in "Thoroughbred & Classic Cars", June 1985, and I found that I have this magazine in my collection, so I've been able to read up on the history. Quite an interesting story. Is it in decent shape, or are you restoring it? The tail lights appear to the same as the Triumph Italia, via the Lancia Appia, maybe others.
Jeff, you have quite a library! I have that article as well. It was also in Road and Track, dec 64, under 'miscelaneous ramblings' as "The next Shelby Cobra?" It is in very good original drivers condtion, I'm thinking about a full pebble beach resto, but with this trend toward origiality, may leave her as is..what do you think?
