I need to find the bits needed to do a single disc conversion for a 348. Fly wheel and a clutch pack, for sure, but is there anything else needed?

As far as I recall it's those 2. MD clutches used to make a flywheel for single conversion before they closed their doors.

Right the ring gear came with their flywheel kit. The 3 discrete bits were.
    1. New Flywheel
    2. New Starter ring
    3. Single clutch
    4. New bolts to bolt clutch to flywheel (original bolts do stretch and will dig into the Voith ruining it, if reusing them grind 2 mm of so off)

    New flywheel: $10,000
    New ring gear: $1,000
    New clutch set: $3,000
    New bolts: ___
We are at $14,000 before the bolts. Wow. I should be able to buy a used Tesla for that.

I can't remember. I think just PP and disc. FW were the same. a few years after production started the flange was changed and the companion T/O bearing. I don't think old flanges fit the Hill bearing but I can't swear to that. I always thought the twin disc was just fine. I raced on that for a while too. The capability of multi-discs are always better. I think Ferrari realized a single disc that cost less yet could charge more for was a win. I see no advantage to going single. If the twins are NLA just use the specs and have someone like Friction Materials rebuild the discs to spec. If those idiots have a problem with the open and closed specs then remove the marcel spring and just go with the closed spec.. The marcel spring does very little in this application. I have even converted these to lightened solid FW and no marcel's and these hold up to race conditions.

Curios why switch is it due to single plate clutch being cheaper to replace in the future? The dual uses the AP racing unit which can be found for $2600 if one shops around or so. Singles non AP Racing are like $2300. Conversion will cost more even if installing used parts and who wants a used flywheel. The dual plate works better pretty sure.

Brans new MD flywheels were $1200 when they were open. IF its all apart probably repack the voith too, MD used to sell a kit for that too with the correct orings and bolts.

I did AP dual plate (new), new MD flywheel, repacked voith, new bearings, seals and o-rings and bolts for $3500.

Hill TB was another 1K for flange and bearing plus few bucks for seals etc.

    ya beat me to it....

You can even send the plates BACK to AP and they'll reline... I think Essex parts in NC is a portal.

You can also buy new just the AP plates. For me, I wanted whole thing, pressure plate, clutch housing, Hill TB, Flywheel everything... all new between pumpkin and engine, everything new, after my nightmare I did not want to then enter into cutch issue hell. Back to factory spec and clearances. :)

I someone really wants to switch, sourcing a used flywheel and having it machined may be the only starting point option.

When parts go NLA or get rare the price goes WAY up. The HVAC controllers for the 348 used to be under 1K now are like 6K if you can find them, same for MAF's. Flywheels are a special kind of gouging, one can drive without AC or fix MAF's but not without flywheels I suspect. Once you start machining them everything else starts to go out of tolerance depending on how much needs resurfacing. Its a gamble I feel. Plus many of the 348's have scored flywheels from leaking seals.

Also I cant count the threads of clutch issues only to find they had them rebuilt, relined or plate spring fingers installed, flywheel turned down, pressed new seals into the old TB etc... It rarely comes out right.

Switch, because nobody has a dual clutch disc clutch package, and nobody can say when they will be available again.

Just their Kluber grease as far as I know, I got the last Dual Flywheel they had according to what they told me at least, about 3 days before they went dark.

Eurospares show AP Racing twin clutch "In stock" and also offer the aftermarket one. Both are also offered by Maranello.
