I was wondering if anybody knows the normal exhaust temperatures for a stock F430 manifold. If not, I'll get out my infrared thermometer and go for a drive. I'm about to install AP headers and am getting them coated at Jet-Hot. To avoid the need for exhaust wrap or blankets, I am getting the 'ultra' extreme coating (external), however I am also considering getting the 'regular' extreme coating on the inside. They say the inside coating might not last if the exhaust gas temperatures go above 1250 degrees Fahrenheit, but I don't imagine this would be the case.

7-1100-ish...under LOAD, it can and likely will spike to as high as 1400. Without utilizing an in stream pyrometer, we are just guessing-based on experience-but the thermal shock which you are concerned about is right on the threshold IMO, and I'd do a little more data acquisition before spending the money. In a 288GTO, the tip top coating burned off.... before the dyno runs were completed(destroyed the wide bands sensors)-BUT, this IS a turbo car....

Thank you very much. I took some readings with an infrared thermometer, and after 10-20 minutes of normal driving, the manifolds were only at 440° F. I know that's not internal temperature like I need, but o don't suspect it would have been anywhere near triple that inside.
