Mileage wise. Is 150k good or 250k? I'm assuming service done as scheduled.
Hard to say cause most do a lot of sitting. I'm sure they can go 150k if serviced and driven regularly.
I know there are several 355's well over 100K in mileage so I would suspect the newer cars would do even better, especially the 430 with the chain driven cams. I think we underestimate just how bulletproof the cars really are.
I'm fully anticipating in excess of 100k to 120k before I have to upgrade to a F498... or whatever the model # is by then...
Hey Curt, I've got the wife wore down I think. She told me to check insurance cost for one these beasts.
Well I don't know about all the models out there but the service intervals for a 360 are published up to 120,000 Miles in the owners manual!!!!
Using 355 to make this point is a bit ironic...I doubt any/many with over 50,000 mikes haven't had the engine top end redone and the headers and on and on...read the current Forza among other sources... I think most folks think of this concept as "life" before needing major rebuilds...any car can last forever if it gets major parts rebuilt along the way. Also, let's wait and see how many f1 and DCT transmissions get past 50k mules without needed a rebuild or replace before we say anything about this... OP - given the average usage of a Ferrari is 1000 per year or less, we won't the answer to your question for another 140 - 240 years Simply put, the fleet of cars hasn't been driven enough to know, and won't for decades. That said, most modern Ferrari models have had a large system fail early, whether it's value guides (355), headers (430, 355), F1 (360, 430) or DCT (Cali, a few 458). I believe one can't think of a Ferrari (or any exotic) in the traditional way in this regard. Sure a Toyota can be thought to have a life of hundreds of thousands of miles, exotics, not so much (at least not without significant maint and repair).
Maybe in US but here in Europe cars are driven, as it should be...not rare to see cars with 50K or more on the clock and they do not melt or explode... Mine as well has now 49K and never had issues during its life, unless recently the F1 sensor that has been replaced...
Zona, I agree with you but I was hoping there would be someone from over the pond that has a different perspective. Everyone says a low mileage car isn't the best these are made to be driven. I've heard many times people in Europe drive them like crazy. I just wanted to see what "crazy" was. I don't want to get a low mileage but I don't want to get one that will need a major rebuild in 5k miles either.
Careful! If you go on the 355 thread the cars are apparently with Honda-like reliability... once you fix the top end, and the headers, and the known "issues". I'm not sure I believe that personally. My experiences with a 355 are to the contrary. And thats with a 76k mile 355. Always needing something. Owner would always ask me every weekend.. "Hows Bella?".. and I would respond " I turn the key, drive her.. then put her away, repeat every weekend". He couldn't believe that I didn't have any issues.. He actually missed the constant tinkering every weekend with the 355... sadistic love.
One FChatter has over 100K on his 360 with no major issues. Curt I'm with Allstate too and pay a little over $500 a year for insurance -- heck I pay more in the annual vehicle property tax. Your higher rate must be because you are a young whipper snapper. Or maybe SC has higher rates than NC. Alan
No car has zero issues not many modern examples with over 75k + . It has been shown that driving them produces less issue. Having a manual helps. And once 355 have valves and headers repaired they have no further major issues. Tillman has about 120k on his ...ask him how many issues he's had 100k is not an issue especially when we use synthetic pil
OP : this is just a variation of 'how many miles on your Ferrari ?' which is a regular thread and each time some folk post that they have over 100 000 miles or what ever - try looking for some of them if you want to know more
What is normal life of a Ferrari? Pampered to within an inch of it's life by it's loving owner. Extensively serviced. Driven with much enthusiasm and enjoyment. Admired by many. Repeat cycle with next owner. My car has a better life than me. I'm coming back as a Ferrari!
So true. I have 53.000+ km on mine and it looks like a new one. It's wrapped since a lot of years, the original paint is new. Same for the interior. Sent from my F430 using Tapatalk.
Left alone indoors for long periods of time. Occasionally bathed. Never used for any meaningful purpose. Sort of like an expensive housecat....
Highest mileage F430 I have seen on the market is ~90k miles, f1 transmission. Car looked clean in the pictures. With regular fluid changes and servicing, I would imagine most cars would make it past 100k miles.
Normal life for a Ferrari. Like an expensive mistress! Taken out, much admired, envied, used occasionally, expensive to keep, and if abused will occasionally cost you a fortune.
