Quick question ... I know what OEM means. (Thank god, ha ha) - But what are parts that are supposedly NOS? It seems like those parts are factory as well or made by the same supplier to Ferrari? Some seem to come with Ferrari packaging. Can someone shed light on this for me if able? I see many of these on e-bay from Nose Badges to Lens, etc.

    Thanks,
    Mike

Thanks. Might be a silly question, but so I know - these are older parts (maybe no longer manufactured by Ferarri), but are ORIGINAL Ferrari parts?

Yes..... Imagine that no one bought a pair of Ferrari factory taillight lenses from a dealer and they sat on the shelf for 15 years. They would be new (unused) old (vintage) stock.

This is true unless you are talking to a 16 year old. Then NOS means Nitrous Oxide. Actually it's a brand of nitrous kits.

New Old Stock doesn't neccessarily mean it's original Ferrari or from the same supplier. It could be from an old stock of pattern parts.

NOS simply means its a part that was produced a long time ago but was never sold. So it's a brand new part in original packaging, but may have deteriorated just by sitting on the shelf. Note that this is a condition description. It doesn't say anything about what brand it is, whether it's OEM or aftermarket, just what condition the part is (e.g. New, Used, NOS).

Correct. Not all NOS is desirable. Things like tires and timing belts and other rubber parts can deteriorate over time, even sitting on a shelf somewhere. And metal parts can corrode or rust, depending on how they were stored. Just because someone says NOS doesn't mean it's worth buying, depending on what it is.
