Surprised no one mentioned this bike. I saw this about a month ago and let me tell you pictures do no justice for this bike. Absoultley amazing on the build quality of this bike.

I'm glad Im not the first to vote for the RC30. Had always been a dream to get one and put in my family room. When this bike was released it was absolutely the closest thing to a factory racer ever offered to the public. Of course that was a long time ago.

Really now--that fact that no one has mentioned an Excelsior or Henderson and only one mention of a Norton Commando or Vincent Black Shadow is truly a sad reflection on the lack of appreciation for true beauty in motorcycles.

Save a few modern bikes, such as the Britten, MV Agusta and Duc 916/996 not one of the bikes mentioned here will be around, let alone remembered in 70 years from now, they are all too generic and copy cat to each other. Not saying an RC30 isn't nice looking-but it would never be in any top 10 best looking bikes ever in 2080.

Expand your horizons--learn to appreciate some truly beautiful bikes that are more than 15 years old.

Love the RC 30, RC 45, and RC 51.

Did you ever get one for your living room?

I'm working on my dream center piece for my living room, 1999 Yamaha YZF-R7 OW-O2.

No I did not get one ....yet. Have recently been looking and seen some collector items (less than 1000 miles) going for around $15,000.00, seems reasonable.

If your going to mention these what about an Ariel. When I was an 18 year old kid and used to ride my Harley I had a friend who had 4 of these they used to handle amazingly at low speeds. I would swear the front wheel would turn to 90 degrees.

We have a winner! I have followed John Britten from his Daytona debut with the V1000.....it was a sad day when he died. I had a chance to buy one and didn't pony up the $300K it would have taken. Oh well......I can always go to Barber to look at that one, but having it in my garage would have been.....special. Very expensive to ride, though....at this point, but the one I missed has made it to a track day near Ft. Worth and been driven in a spirited manner.

I asked for frame 666. I got 777.....I figured I didn't have enough stroke for the 666 bike. I also had 787 and sold it and bought a 1098R.

    Frames 851, 888, 916, 996, 998, 999, 1098....they were probably all selected for a small premium.

The fact that they will not be remembered in 70 years is a matter of opinion. So many people love these bikes today that will insure there place and worth in the future.

You throw out some harsh claims but beauty is all in the eye of the beholder and in 15 years we will see what the test of time will tell us. You could not predict 30 years ago that some of the bikes would be at the status they are now thus now predicting in the future. If so let me know what is on your top 10 and I will have a small fortune in the future ;)
Not trying to pick a fight or an argument but lets just enjoy the thread for the beauty of these wonderful machines and not picking on what others find attractive or not.

My vote would be for the DB7, 1098S, 907ie, MV Agusta to name a few that have already been posted. Will post pictures later on of my top 3.

    I'm thinking Desmosedici.
At first I thought it kind of looked like a big catfish, but I have to say it's really growing on me.
Plus it sounds like an F1 car!

No. I'll look into that. I installed a scotts damper and made sure to properly torque the large bolt on the top of the fork assembly. I'll check the manual and see where the stem bearings are exactly. Thanks!

I will check the fluid/seals. I don't stunt or wheelie the bike and I'm pretty sure the previous owner did not either. I will still check the fluid.

Doing the wheel balance seemed to help, but I did get a bad vibration the other day when decelerating from about 55 or 60 MPH. Is vibration coming through the front forks when you take your hands off the clip-ons normal or should it never do it if everything is setup correctly?

With a properly installed and adjusted steering stabilizer you should never get any vibration through the handle bars, accelerating or decelerating. I can literally take both hands off the bike and brake to almost a complete halt with the rear brake only the bike stays straight and true. My Honda has the HESD system. Your R1 should react the same with that dampner.

Maybe try adjusting the Scott's you have on there, can it adjust 10 or 30 times?

New CBR 900R...neighbor tossed me the key. Unwound the throttle through the curves at double what my car could do, pressed on through early morning, not a cop in sight and passed 4, maybe 5 cars on the way. Got gas and went back in the full heat of day. Not a lot faster, but it felt like warp, one or two cars, no cops.

    Cool bike.

    :)

It has a wide range of adjustment. I've got it probably about 3/4 of the way to max. I may try adjusting it up a little bit to see if it makes any difference. I am also going to check the manual for causes of head slap and see what options there are as far as checking stuff.

Not sure. I was planning on going to check them out in a month when I am in Oregon. The website is the same.
