When we were looking for a bike for me, we were looking at the Graphite CBR, or a CBR1000.

Since it would be my first bike, we settled with an 06 600RR. I'll try and snap some pics later on today :)

I LOVE the red lip on the rims. Bike looks sick!

Smart move, going with a 600 for your first bike. 1000 would have been way too big and heavy and built the wrong habits...relying on power rather than skill. You will be a far better rider as a result of your decision. Starting on dirt bikes is even better. I wish I had done that.

Yeah, I had been riding dirtbikes since I was 8 and as soon as I turned 16, I got a job, saved the money and bought the bike.

    I love it.

I got to ride a friends 1000 around my neighborhood a few times. WAY too heavy. I got cut off and it almost hit the ground.

Yes, it came with the 1098R. That is quite literally the most bad a55 bike I have ever ridden'.

I was granted the opportunity to ride my father's friends 749 Dark and that was pretty insane.

Could only imagine what the 1098R or the Desmo would be like.

I'd be too scared to ride either one of them lol.

After break in of the desmosedici, I carried the front wheel to 130+ mph, and I was under the bubble (yes, there was a small rise that lofted it at 90mph). Had the hair standing up on the back of my neck. My friend put it on his eddy current dyno and it set the record for highest peak HP of any production based naturally aspirated motorcycle so far on his machine. He is looking forward to testing the new Beemer (S1000RR) next month, and thinks it could be close. The Aprilia V4 was considerably lower in peak HP.

How much did it put out?

I'd like to see what my bike puts out. I've got a few mods on her.

I saw an S1000RR at Cars & Coffee one time.

BEAUTIFUL. And DAMN, did it sound good.

Can't wait till I make the move up to the big bikes. Right now, I've mainly been looking at a Monster 696.

It is not comparable to the dynojet numbers and reads drastically lower than what a dynojet 250 would give it. For instance, my GSXR 750 race bike with TEKA tune only had a peak output of 117 HP on his dyno, and later, on a dynojet 250, it saw 142 HP.

Most of the D16RR's dynojet 250 sheets peak at about 178-183 HP with the race exhaust that came with the bike. The twin outlet corsa pipe adds only 1-2 HP.

You can watch the dyno run on my bike here:

Good god that thing sounds insane.

    You track it at all?

I'm starting to get into more tack stuff. SO much fun.

One of these days, my dads gonna hop on one of his old thumpers (Harley) and I'm going to take the CBR through the mountains.

I have been recovering from a crash last year...shattered my ankle and had to have plates and screws. At 56 YO, things take some time to mend, esp when you spend almost 6 weeks in a wheelchair.

A couple from OZ were driving in Texas on the wrong side of the road, and as I topped a hill, they were directly in my lane in front of me. I had to go off road on my Triumph, where I lost the fromt end and crashed.

I raced 250's, 600's and 750's over several years in CMRA, but I have not had the Desmosedici on the track yet....perhaps later this summer at Barber.

Ouch, well, at least everything is healing up.

The Desmo would be such a handful on the track.

I've been riding the 600 for about 9 1/2 months now and it's pretty hard to ride fast on the track. I'm still pretty hesitant to lean the bike over so low in the turns.

Any way, to gte this thread back on topic, the ever so amazing, Duc 999R

Those things are still bringing mid $20Ks on the market. One fine motorcycle, although the looks created a love or hate response from Ducatisti.

I posted the 3D as my favorite one in my first post in this thread. IMHO the 3D looks more refined and "complete" (no exhaust sticking out like the 2D) etc.

It's my no. 1 dream bike for sure. Rolling art.

I like the 3D also, but the 2 D was a no compromise machine. They appear to have done a little cost cutting with the 3D. No longer do they have the aluminum swing arms, and several chassis mods were made to reduce machining cost. The 3D is nice, but I am in love with the 2D personally. Both bikes are definitely rolling art.
