For someone who is not that familiar with and might actually consider a 355 among others, which year/model would you guys recommend? Please include (in details) why you would recommend that specific year/model. Thanks guys!

1995, a tad bit more HP, better sounding, could have an issue with the bronze valve guides.

    OR

1999. Shouldn't have valve guide issues as that was addressed. pay extra and see if you can get a Fiorano. That is the ticket.

95 for me as I have one!

  10. 1999 is the final and "best" year with all factory updates to valve guides, ECU (Motronic 5.2), headers and F1 and suspension software! As usual, buy the newest, lowest mileage and best documented one your budget can afford.

The ultimate 355 is the 1/100 Fiorano although you can add high quality carbon fiber interior pieces, ECU flash upgrade, Capristo Level 3 Exhaust, Fabspeed Headers, BMC airfilters, aftermarket wheels, H&R Suspension, Brembo brakes, etc. to almost any 355 to make it handle, sound and perform even better than a Fiorano.

It's not necessarily important the year of the F355 but to get a car that has:
    > a well documented service/owner history
    > passes a rigorous PPI
    > a clean carfax
    > aftermarket exhaust, headers, and hyperflows

I wasn't aware that the 99's had different headers that earlier years, and I believe valve guide issues have been seen in all years for the 355. I am personally biased toward the 95's- a few more token hp, obd1 easier to work with regarding exhaust mods... Things that should be addressed when considering a 355, as mentioned previously, are valve guides and headers.

95 is my favorite, tho they all are great cars. I think the best deal to be had is a higher-mileage 95 that has been maintained and had all the bugs worked out, provided you intend on actually driving the thing instead of just looking at it.

Some say the best one is the '94 Euro version. Lighter pistons (now offered by Daniel as a part of the lower end rebuild kit) among other things.

You mean the version they built before the big party on that one day when everyone had too much Moscato and ended up installing the engines 90 degrees cockeyed from normal?

1995 model is the way to go. More HP and as previously posted, more raw. Question for all, Is the 355 the last of the true great driver's Ferraris. The later models have the electronics to make up for driver ability, esepcially so on the F430.

I have a 95 Challenge car which is just a street 355 converted into a race car. No one believes me, but that car is incredible. It's fast. 95 has to be a good year.
