Hey DOTHater, we met briefly at the Rampage back in April.

Member UDalmia has an NGT exhaust, I can't remember if it's Tubi or Capristo, on his CS. It is LOUD. I don't know if it's the *best,* but I can't imagine much louder being very tolerable. He can show you a video clip.

I don't know if it's the best as far as adding the most performance, but I have heard Capristo is the best sounding.

I would think stock would be it. They tuned that car to be the best it can be without street manners as a concern. Why would anyone else do it better than Ferrari. It's not like any aftermarket tuners have billion dollar facilities with access to F1 engineers.

Do you base your statement on first hand information,
    or are you just speculating?

Because my before and after dyno numbers show an increase in performance going from the stock unit to a Tubi unit.
I do not have dyno numbers on any other after-market supplier.

The "I would think" begining to my statement pretty much means I am totally speculating. Why would Ferrari, who undoubtedly knows their cars better than anyone else, make an all out performance version of a road car and leave some horsepower on the table? It just doesn't seem smart but who the heck am I to judge them. I'd be interested to see dyno graphs if you have them. Did it gain more average horsepower or just more peak power? And did it lose torque like most exhaust systems do?

Because they need to homologate the car worldwide. Some of those set ups make the cars illegal ( Sound and/or pollution ) .

Exactly. These cars have to be able to run and pass all the laws and restrictions of countries around the world, Ferrari has to give up some HP to make their cars run correctly everywhere.

Is the Tubi really louder than the standard CS. I hope not. And mufflers don't control pollution.

Yeah, but removing the catalytic converters that control pollution along with the exhaust system can give power gains.

I spoke to a Factory Dealership the other day and they said that the cats would still be on if they added a Tubi. This didnt make much sense here to me. I'm by no means a mechenic but why improve an exhaust and leave the cats on?

Seems to me the excess heat they generate cant be good for the engin over time. Why not put on a exhaust ans a resonitaor(SP?) to give the correct amount of back pressure to duplicate the cats thus not confuseing the engine management system and end up with a better car that sounds better and runs cooler.

How do headers fit into this equation? I love my CS and just want to make it live a long happy life and not run hot and plugged up. I own much faster cars so I'm not trying to make it the fastest car I have just the best car it possibly can be.

Thanks ahead for answeres and your patients with me.

They leave the cats on because it's a federal law,
and so you sacrifice a little performance to help save the earth from nasty pollution.

As far as headers go, your car already has them.

It's a Tubi system, pretty sure. I heard it up close and personal, and let me say it is one of the loudest cars I've ever heard. It has a high pitch scream that you would never believe.

The loudest exhaust I've heard would be a Z06 that came to a show I put on, fully tuned, etc. Actually made a little kid cry.

    Dave,

Thanks for your help I'm getting where I want to be here.On my Lambos I have by passed the cats(and they run better)-its it possible in this case? or is it a bad plan ie. dosent do anything. I have FL tags so there isnt any smog requirements.
