    All right folks,

I been tempted to get a FF for a while but the cost of repair out of warranty are definitely of interest. A gentleman posted that his AFS system broke and F dealer wanted 11k for a new one, the brakes are definitely on the high end and the transmission not cheap either- combined with the fact that those are not easy to work on by a small shop and it got me thinking- is the ticking bomb crazy maintenance bill for the TR family really justified?

ASIDE the major which is a different story what was or is the biggest bill included part you ever had?

Personally it was always around 1k:
-new fuel gauge and installation of it
-1k for new headlight/repaired stocks etc
-alternator rebuil (not well becaus it broke again) by Ferrari of Orlando was also in the 1k range
-the highest major on the car was 10k at Ferrari of algar, nothing major done to it aside the said major

I think 3-4K a year between cosmetics and regular maintenance is what the beauty cost me.

How about you guys? What was your biggest bill? If it was part of a major let’s highlight how much it raised the total bill by so it gives an idea.

I’m curious about diff, clutches and so forth;)

Had mine 10 years or so... don't drive it much, 5000 miles in 10 years, most in the first 5 years. Other than majors, nothing has really gone wrong. Had a leaking fuel line I replaced myself, and a frozen fuel pump...

These cars aren't driven much. SO wear items like clutches, brake pads, etc, wear a very long time.

This is a cool "live in the moment" car. But the ergonomics aren't conducive to frequent drives or frequent usage...

Never had a bill- do my own work- that said, preventative diff replacement was most expensive part I've replaced, done with major- pig, shims, seals, bearings, etc around 3k. Clutch 2k.
    Average 3-4k miles a year

because of doing the work all by myself I only had to buy the parts. after I baught the car I invested about 22.000 € for a diff, a special made CP and mainshaft, propeller shaft and gears from clutch down to gearbox plus all bearings

I have had my '89 for 20 years now and have faithfully kept up with regular full majors every 5-6 years. Did the diff several years ago as a preventive measure, and in late 2017 early 2018 did the last major. While the engine was out did a major refresh on the engine and bay. All new hoses, belts, nuts and bolts, as well as repainting block, and red crinkle. The bill for this was over $30,000. I now have 50,000 miles plus and it looks and runs as good as new. The interior has no cracks in the leather and no shrinkage on the dash, so it hasn't needed any refurb. Was it worth that kind on money....hell yes.
