I was inspired to start this thread after seeing that White Euro dry sump 308 on the other thread. To me certain makes and models of cars look better in different color sets than others. For example white looks great on an E30 M3, an Esprit, a Testarossa, or a later model Countach. On the other hand white just looks off to me on 308s, C3 Vettes, or even early Countachs. I think white looks better on boxy, angular, cars but not so much on cars with free flowing lines. Hence making white a “correct” color on some makes and models but not on others.

There is more than just looking good that makes certain colors “correct” for certain cars in my opinion. Part of it is what color we associate with a certain car when we envision the car in our heads. Another part of it is also historical significance going back to the “racing colors” associated with racecars emanating from certain countries. Even another part of it is what era the cars were manufactured in. Finally there are a whole lot of indescribable intangibles at play here as well.

I am here to ask what everybody feels are the “correct” colors for 308s. The obvious answer, that most of will be in agreeance on, would be red. I also think that yellow is a "correct" color for a 308 as well, though not my cup of tea. I think black works well on 308s, but then again black is probably the most all-encompassing color on all cars. One of my favorite colors on a 308 is silver, but I would not necessarily say that it is "correct" on a 308 like it would be on a 911 of the same vintage or even a Dino.

So I am curious as to what you all think. Hopefully you guys understand what I am trying to get at here. 328 guys feel free to chime in as well. I feel that certain colors actually work better on 328s than 308s due that fact that the free flowing lines on 328 were somewhat “chopped” with the different bumpers and that the 328 was manufactured in a different era than the 308.
