I am now dealing with a Ferrari dealer for a 13 pre-owned FF with 300 miles, MSRP 361K. They said they could sell to me for 295K and give me 175K on my Mclaren mp4-12C(11K miles). Is it a good deal?
I think your Mclaren could sell for more than $200k privately. The FF price is a good deal though. Is the FF price contingent to you trading your Mclaren?
can someone explain me how Ferrari valuate their cars? price is based on production cost? price of new FF is high because it have two gearboxes and 12 cylinders?
The FF pricing sounds about right.... IMHO, the "perfect" base FF spec is about a $330K car. Most options beyond that are vanity and finish choices....eg. carbon fiber, leather, passenger display et al that typically do not get recaptured at trade-in, but may get a premium if the right car finds the right buyer. With that view (and it's easy to disagree or poke holes in that logic), the effective depreciation on the car is a bit more than 10%. For a 2013 with 300 miles, that's reasonable assuming it's a spec someone would want. It's a 2013....so now one model year removed. I'd imagine with only 300miles it was a demo OR a car someone ordered and did not take OR someone took and is swapping after holding for 6 months. In any of those scenarios the dealer will be motivated to move the car. FWIW our 13 FF with 4K miles on it (i.e. my "perfect spec" noted above) got a trade-in quote of about 17% depreciation off MSRP.
Last summer a Ferrari dealer was offering a 2012 FF (with only 675 miles on it) for $100K off of sticker! They even showed the sticker.. 2012 Ferrari FF Base Hatchback 2 Door 6 3L | eBay
Surely some of that depends on if you want the FF - based on your brief description of the McLaren it seems likely you won't do many miles in the FF but will trade it in about a year for another large loss which will make a few thousand either way on this trade irrelevant
Unless you are really enamored with the FF I would shop the McClaren around and then shop for an FF. FF's are not flying off the shelf. That trade is 25 to 30k light.
2013 FF 1200 miles MSRP 367K being offered 240k trade in wholesale. I would think 275K is a good price retail for a car like that. They want to pop 10 to 30k on resale.
My guess is in a year a 2012 will be 225 to 235. Does the money matter? The looks of a FF are controversial. They will be depreciate stones.
If your are saying that at $250K you get a hell of a lot of car that can do most anything and is still a Ferrari, then I am with you....Steve
I did. I hate the looks of the rear of the car, but I drove one a few weeks ago and I was very impressed. Great car to drive.
I have driven a FF and own a 13 cayenne GTS. FF drives great looks ugly IMHO. Looks matter to me. There is no line to buy a new FF. The Cayenne is not the equal an FF.
