Hi Brian, Was curious what was the highest mileage Ferrari you've seen in your long experience? Cheers
I parked my 308 about 10 or 12 years ago with 190K. Still running great when I parked it. Did the valves at 170K and other than the usual number of water pumps, it is a great dependable car. Got smart around 60K and started running 12 cylinder pressure plates. Broke the upper control arm mounting brackets a few times. I'll blame that on the Yokahama A008's.
I've always wondered with these 3 year unlimited mile F/L-car warranties, will anyone with absolutely no care about resale try to see how many miles they can put on it? Complimentary maintenance for 7 years on new Fcars...it shouldn't cost too much do it outside of gas, tires, and brake pads. Although I feel that if it's getting frequent with the dealer, they'll hold the car as long as possible to get that 3 years to run up with less driving days. "waiting for parts" Semi-truck drivers put on 600+ miles a day no problem and some 1,000+ so you could hit 1 million miles under warranty.
I still have the 330 GTC. I rebuilt the engine at 162,000 miles. It now has just under 184,000 miles. And, it's still an everyday driver. Bob Z. Image Unavailable, Please Login
Simon George. Is a partner in a Exotics rental company and also writes (or did) for EVO magazine. I saw this new in 2005. He managed to lock the keys in the car with the engine running or rather the car did. Recently a customer broke it. That's putting it mildly but he decided its days were not yet over. 220k+ so far. That would be three million miles, then, Paul? http://wheels.blogs.nytimes.com/2013/06/18/irv-gordon-has-driven-nearly-3-million-miles-in-his-1966-volvo-1800s/?_r=1 Rgds
You win the epic lurking award and best post award at the same time!!!! Too late to say welcome to fchat... but great first post after three years lurking What is the status of your 308 now?
For sure, he tracks hard! Funny enough I spotted him yesterday at University/El Camino in his F430 haha
That car has been rebuilt and the owner is planning on getting it past 300k within a year. He drove it for the first time again earlier this month and says it drives just like when he bought it new. Seen the story in this guy, true love right there! I don't know any Toyota s that can hang with that guy. Most miles I've racked in any car is 150K!
That is remarkable. Always great to see someone who will actually drive his car regularly, no matter when or where the car was produced. I think I saw it at Motori Italiani in Charlotte in 2014? If that was yours, it looked absolutely flawless. In response to the original poster, I believe a 550 popped up for sale on here a while back. It had about 98,000 miles if I recall correctly. I believe that is the highest-mile Ferrari I have run across.
I wonder if Bart still has his 550. He had already put like 70K on it as of 12 years ago, IIRC. He loved it like life itself so I wouldn't be surprised if he still has it.
There was a paper in a german magazine, at about 2010, about a german owner of a black 308 GTS QV; he was also a member on F-Chat, and is known by several other members here as well. He used the QV more or less as his daily; at the time, his car had 244.000 kms (about 152.000 miles) on its original engine and trans. Last time I heard from him (his first name is Kai) the car was at 270.000 kms, about 165.000 miles). Rgds
There was a 575 for sale in Germany with 300.000 km. The impressive part is that the car was only 5 years old then, so it was a rental or the owner had fear of flying.
It's quite incredible. I met Simon George in 2005 when it was new. He managed to lock the keys in the car (or rather the car did) at Oulton Park. It was an October or November but certainly cold. We were all stood waiting for the breakdown services keeping warm from the running engine. I would never have thought then that it would be up at this mileage and still here as it looked destined to be a right PITA.
Yes, Mr Nicholasn, that was my car. Thanks for the compliment! I haven't made it to Motori for a while. Maybe next year. It should have close to 190,000 by then! Bob Z.
This Ferrari F430 has covered half a million kms! http://www.joymotors.com/sell/sell_view.php?num=10871 Image Unavailable, Please Login fake ?
