These cars really are being appreciated and are appreciating. I think I'll be an owner one day, and only regret not getting one some years back.

This poll may have been done before but it might be fun to do again. I have my favorite, but it is a tough choice for me.

PS. The back of FML has an add showing a GTS with a heading saying "More valuable than platinum."

That's a tough one. I'd probably say the Spider is ever so slightly the prettier but I would prefer the coupe for its extra rigidity.

GT hands down. It was designed as a coupe and as such I find the roofline on the GTS looks interrupted.

I do recognize that the removable top makes it far more practical and comfortable in the hot weather.

    Just my thoughts

I think the GT is by far the best looking of the two.

i'm also just a liiiitle bit biased....but how can you argue with the lines? the uninterrupted flow of the designer's pen..

Gotta have the removable top. That said, either one is a top-10 most beautiful car.

    Coupe.

Even the Daytona, when I saw 2 of them side by side, the coupes look correct.

You could add the 206 GT and if you wanted to get really serious - the different series/euro/us combos.
    Yeah, then we'll know...

When I purchased my Dino 27 years ago the previous owner also had a Daytona, the second he had owned. He said that although the Daytona is a fabulous looking car, it needed to be in a special place to bring out its beauty in a photograph where the Dino looked beautiful where ever it was parked. I have to agree with his thoughts!

so if the GT is such a crowd pleaser, how come the GTS is more valuable in the states then? i think the reverse is true in europe...

As a Dino owner of 36-years' standing, and having two GTs, I am obviously biased toward the appearance of the coupe. In the mid-'70s and into the early '80s, when the 308 series was considered the ultimate in Ferrari design, I often noticed that Dinos didn't look good parked next to 308s--there was a kind of clash evident to me. I don't notice that so much now but, interestingly, when I see a 308 or 328 by itself, it looks dated to me. Parking one in proximity to a Dino reveals the heritage behind the 3X8 design, and adds to its appeal. Maybe I'm alone in feeling this way, but I consider it the ultimate vindication after all the criticism hurled at the Dino after it ceased production. Not only is the Dino an ageless design, it lifts all Ferrari boats, in my estimation. Fred

it's interesting if you consider the evolution of a specific car model-the first effort is always of course, the purest-it's exactly (more or less!) what the designer had in mind when he sat down and sketched the form....all additions thereafter are reactions to market demands, but they don't often seem to improve the initial thought...

think for instance, of the countach lp400-that was a fantastic, pure piece of design, that progressively became worse and worse as they attached all sorts of design barnacles-strakes, vents, wings, etc, to the car...or the iso grifo-series one was beautiful, series two, not so much..(of course, this is all my own opinion!) :)

can anyone think of a car that has gotten BETTER in later iterations?

GT. The removable top of the GTS compromised its lines. It;s the same with the 911 Targa.

but that's a mechanical evolution-cosmetically, isn't it more or less the same car?

As well as the mechanical differences there were changes to the body, the biggest being the wider haunches at the rear to accommodate the wider rear wheels, the deletion of the eye lashes, different tail lights and front grille. The differences transform the car in my opinion.

I suppose it goes without saying, what we are doing here is splitting hairs over the 2 prettiest Ferraris ever.....wonder what the third prettiest is?

I'm tempted to say 250LM or 250 GT SWB, but you know, those cars aren't so much pretty as handsome and brutish.

I'm just not sure what approaches the Dino(s) in prettiness.

Nothing. I think the Boxer is more beautiful but the Dinos (206 and 246) are the prettiest road cars on this planet.
