Love the GT. GTS not really so much
So here's the interesting thing. By a wide margin, most agree that the gt is the purest of the two designs. Isn't it interesting that the gts sells for upwards of $100,000 more than the gt? I know there maybe 1000 less gts were made, but either way, they're both still rare.
I think they’re both beautiful. Since watching The Persuaders in my youth, I’ve been a passionate fan of the coupe. I still feel the same way. I “like” the GTS, I “LOVE” the GT!
to my eye the GTS appears lower , maybe the roof line of the coupe actually measures taller or has a slight curve whereas a straight line from the top of the targa to windshield header creates a flatter profile on the GTS.
You’re probably correct. The GTS roof section is flat from the top of the windshield frame to the top of the roll bar. On the GT, this section is convex (lots of crown).
Good post to resurrect. I think the gap in pricing is now a function of condition. I own a GT and love it.
Definitively a passionate (and opinionated) subject! With the Dino GT and GTS it created Ferrari’s future product blueprint. Both are obviously popular and gave the customer more options. For me, it was always the GT. Having said that, I have a 914-6. I LOVE the 914-6. Many HATE the 914-6! I love the way it looks (product design) and soooo much fun to drive. More fun than the Dino? No, just different.
Freeman, You should have watched “Hart to Hart”. IMHO the GTS, with the top off, edges out the GT in looks. Top on, GT edges out GTS.
IMO, like most Ferrari GT/road cars, be it a Daytona, Dino, 275 4-cam, 308 or many other brands iconic models, like M-B 300 SL, etc, originally designed into an enclosed form and then later, using same design/shape made (converted ?) into an open top, latter almost always appear more or less like an afterthought or "forced". Kind of like "Hey, that's a great design/shape, but there will likely be a market for an open version also, right ?"
I am a GTS guy all the way.. to me the GT looks a little more "60s" whereas the GTS looks more timeless.. this is surely a result of the fact that I only ever knew the GTS growing up in the '80s, so it is what I picture "the" Dino to be. Here are some pics.of my GTS with body-colored top. Tho I prefer it with the top off! Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login
Did anyone else notice that in the Hart to Hart video posted by 4CamGT they appear to be using 2 different GTSs ….. one with a chrome side mirror and one with a black side mirror? Also, anyone know the serial numbers of these cars?
The main Hart to Hart car (not sure about a second one) is a Dino that belonged to a well known F-Chatter’s dad. He rented the Dino to the production company. Maybe he will chime in.
Thanks for the info. Look at the side mirror at 1:11 and again at 1:19. And then several other times it will be chrome and then right after the Dino crashes at the end there’s a quick glimpse of a black side mirror.
Thank you! It's got a red interior with Daytonas that set it off nicely as well (IMHO) View attachment 3616498
My dream Dino is a 246 GT with covered headlights, flared wheel arches and Cromodoras. In Brown or Verde medio.
