While in Wien I stood at a crosswalk in the wee hours of the morning with absolutely nobody in sight until the signal changed. My wife who is twenty years Americanized and I were busting up inside while her mom and brother stood patiently waiting. Different mindset.
I noticed that most people there drive pretty close to the speed limit but contrary to popular opinion here they are no better drivers.

It's time for a new revolt of motorists.
These pricks setting up all these new laws and restrictions which in essence are nothing more then hidden taxation, were put in their positions by voters after all.
I wonder what would happen if no one would break any traffic laws and all these municipalities would lose the revenue (that is a permanent item in their budgets)?
I posed that question to DA who was prosecuting me (after the case was heard of course) saying that without people speeding there would be a lot of programs that would have to be cut, that by taking my licence away the State would lose revenue.
He only said that I had a point.....

"I-55 & I-57 South down state - about 62mph" Perhaps when drivers suspect heavy enforcement, but for the last couple decades the average is at least 13 mph faster (and often more).

    Ha!

I wish they were this smart in Europe!!

Here they take your money AND your license.

Fortunately I don't receive tickets from automatic speed cameras with my Monegasque plates and can't loose points OR my driving license whilst driving outside Monaco. However, if the police stops you with foreign plates they'll make you pay on the spot, and whilst they can't take away your license, they can confiscate your car depending on the country's laws.

In France going at 50 km/h (30mph) over the speed limit could be enough to have your car confiscated. So doing 180km/h (112mph) in a 130kmh (80mph) zone could be enough to have your taken away in France...

Things are a still a *bit* better in Italy...but they're getting worse by the day.

In college I would do 100+ down I-55 on average.
