    Just curious.

Lets make a few givens at the outset:

    1. Assume anyone posting has only done so where it was safe and legal to do so Therefore no further detail needs posted
    2. That all posters are being honest
    3. That due allowance has been made for speedo error in so far as known
    4. We all post in MPH

    For me:
155 In my auto Espada but was downhill Absolute max
160 In My countach QV but ran out of space

As previously posted, 183 as an honest and accurate max in a 89 countach. An inccurate 200 something in a 99 roadster - all got very blurry.

No pics or vids unless they can clearly be seen to be on a race track or are not in any way capable of being referred back to an individual! Don't want the fate of our F40 Japanese driver to befall anyone on here when the police traced him and he ended up in court and banned!
At higher speeds I do tend to keep both hands on the wheel and my vision very focused on the road ahead! lol
For the countachs could people say if was with or without rear wing?

Totally agree. My comfort zone is up to around 150, anything above that takes all my attention and the last thing I'm going to be doing is taking pics. Yea I've seen people do it but it aint my thing.

    Mine was with wing.

170 in my Gallardo. Was about to shift into 6th but passed a cop so I quickly got the hell out of there. Then called 285Ferrari (Fchat member) to see if any cops had called me in.

150 in my Diablo. Sadly this was 10 minutes before it caught on fire. :(

    130's in my 348 & 355

188.4: LP400 GPS clocked. mildly tuned engine with a bit more horsepower that stock via Buroni pistons (a tad more compression), cams (tad more radial), carillo rods (to take up to 9K rpm). No wing. With low wing (I know...inappropriate) 172. Same car, same day, same road; took wing off to compare with quick on/off setup for wing. As posted earlier here, with wing, lower top speed, better stability under braking (at least the way this car was set up). Without wing, better top speed, and doesn't take forever to get there.

183: DD QV full euro, no dot/epa mods, bouncing off the rev limiter, so that is all she had for sure. With tall wing. Funny that I've seen this number stated by manufacturer....rare the truth was told about top speed at least this time.

174: SE30. Had a lot more, but no more road

To any lawenforcement people reading this: This post is all just made up for fun.

    Sound advice my friend.

BTW, Countach is clearly and undeniably faster at top end without the wing. This has been tested too many times to list, both by privateers and by magazines.

Note too, that aside from Dallara's wings as made for Walter Wolf, none of the wings used for the production cars were ever studied & tested for aerodynamic efficiency, and in my opinion most variations (& there are many) simply act as an air-brake at high speeds. At low speeds, well, they are really for posing aren't they?

The only one showing any brains thus far on this thread. Not necessarily because of the speed but because you're very publicly discussing it.

But that's OK because I know it's all a bunch of braggadocio BS right guys? ;>))

Guys need some advice. I was oooohing over the above pics and my wife asked me what I was making such a reaction too! Weird but true! Car porn! Anyway I was trying to explain that it was a CT showing over 170. She said 'if that wasnt on a track he should be reported'
My question is: In any of your fair states in the US of A would that be grounds for a) shooting your wife; b) divorcing her?
    lol

Keep the posts coming. I agree with Joe that everything I have read indicates the wing slows the car. Famous tests by Car magazine on various of Barry Robinsons cars in the 80's show that clearly

Paul: in the USA what one says to a remark like that from your wife is:

    "Yes dear".

    And then carry on..

With the average Lamborghini speedo off by 8-10% that would put this 188 at approx 170mph...

only acurate device in the Lamborghini is the GPS speed measuring device..NOT the Speedometer.
