I would like to go online and see about buying a "set" of wheels fomr a store that would work on my car. What size do I need???

I looked through archives and haven't found ANY help. Also, it is NOT in my owner's manual.

Our friend Keith Bluemel says 7Jx16 front, 8Jx16 rear. But wouldn't it say on the wheel itself?

Yes. Just be sure the are the pre-ABS concave versions with the smaller offsets than the later ABS convex wheels with the larger offsets.
    Good luck!

Why are you buying a "set"? Are all of your orig. ones bad?

    Let me restate.......

I am looking to get a set of non-Ferrari aftermarket wheels. What size should I look for online or in catalogs???

Is the size mentioned in the replies in this post a size that I could pick up at a TireRack or Ebay or some other place that sells wheels???

I want to know the sizes so I can know which wheels will work.

I am looking to completely replace my set of original wheels (I will still be keeping the originals - They are in mint condition) with an aftermarket set. I really think I want to see those black wheels on my car.......

See page 17 of the '86-'87 US 328 OM 396/85 for the stock wheel and tire sizes (you need to keep the OD of the tires about the same and you can't go crazy with super wide wheels because they'll hit the suspension bits).

The offset of your 328 wheels is about +11 mm.

The center hub diameter size for your 328 wheels is 67 mm.

The bolt pattern is 5x108 (5 lugs spaced evenly on a 108 mm base circle)

Assuming you have a non-ABS car
Most any wheel will work with a Ferrari bolt circle (same as a Volvo, IIRC) and about an 11mm offset as I recall. Typically stock wheels will be 7" wide in the front and 8* wide in the rear, but can run slightly larger wheels without spacers (e.g. 7.5 - 8" f & 8.5 - 9" r)
Later Ferrari wheels WILL NOT work without signifigant spacers and new wheel bolts (available from FChat sponsor Hill Eng) to correct for offsets.

These sizes are pretty available at many suppliers; Would suggest one that is more used to Ferraris like www.GaRedCars.com or another FChat sponsor, Nick's Forza Ferrari. Similarly, Tire Rack is a good source for the bigger tire. Lots of threads on this, but the consensus SEEMS to be 225 on the fronts and 245 or 255 on the rear in either 16" or 17" diameters. I do not think you will achieve any real advantages outside of 'bling' going any larger than 17s, but everyone has opinions on this.

For an example of a well done extreme wheel/tire upgrade, look at Steve Rochelin's (Enjoythemusic) very well done car- his wheel/tire choices would be about the best for max performance.
For bling factor, well, you can run any tire/wheel combo you like with close to a 25" - 25.5 total diameter and 11 mm offsets keeping the width within the safe limits we stated.

    Good luck and have fun

I would think that some Speedline 17"s would fit the bill. They look custom but they're not - - and they look stock but they're not.

I run Compomotive Wheels 17x8 and 17x9, with Goodyear Eagle F1, 225/45R17 and 255/45R17. One inch wider and one inch taller than stock, but smaller profile tires, so the overall diameter is nearly the same.

Offset is the key as mentioned. Compomotive is very smart on what offset works to get you as wide a wheel as you want without spacers and without hitting suspension parts. They make the wheel for your car when ordered, not off the shelf. My offset on the 1989 is much different than yours (ABS-style convex originals).

Pic in my profile and below.

    GREAT advice guys!!

I am not even looking to add any size to the wheel (i.e. 17s, 18s, etc). 16s are fine for me. In fact, if I could get the stock wheels in black at a decent price, I would just do that. But all the wheels I have ever seen for 328s (stock) are around $2000. And I am not paying $2000 for stock 328 wheels when I already have them, just not in black!!!!!

    Thanks!!

If anyone has any sites to go to for exact fits for my car, I would love to see them!!

Try FChat sponsor RONAL at www.RonalUSA.com and go to INDEX of CARS. The 308 and 328 (except for the 1989 ABS) have the same diameter, width and offset, so you can use 308 fitted wheels.

If you're a Ferrari Club of America (FCA) member, you get a 20% discount off the website prices.
