I have heard of a Dino with a turbo 328 engine in it. Don't know if this is an urban legend or not. I also heard someone stuffed a 355 engine in the back of one. Is anyone familiar with any "interesting" mods to Dinos over the years? Pics would be great too!

Yes the car is real. Ferrari 328 4v motor in it. No cutting, can be put back to normal with no de-valuation of car. Alot of people have seen it, Red car, very high quality. There must be some pics on the web, it was completed in about say 2008? Then I believe the owner sold it.

There are a couple that have the very rare Lancia Stratos 4 valve heads. More have been upgraded to Stratos carb/intake. Original Dino DCNF vs. larger Stratos IDF carbs.

I'd love to see that car....or rather, drive it! Sounds like it would be a fun car with an extra 80 hp!

I remember seeing a yellow " Cairs and Flares" car here in the UK with 4 valve Stratos heads must be some 25 plus years ago ........... I recall they were a lot of trouble and were removed. Regards, Penny

That car is in the UK, I saw it a few years ago at Silvertsone, but I don't think it had a turbo on it.....

(in fact I believe I took that picture :) )

That huge tube does suggest there is more than meets the eye so it may well be turbocharged.
Doesn't look like a terribly service-friendly engine bay btw :).

Pretty sure that's just the intake to the standard 328 CIS injection though I can't recall where the air filter is - but you might be right.

    You've got a point! (And here I was, thinking I wanted one! :( )

Heck, some parts of my 308 engine are hard enough to reach. Now, maybe if we could modify the rear end to swing back, like a Boxer. . . ;)

That wood post to hold up the engine lid is a particularly nice `touch'.

Bob Norwood did a 246 with a turbo 2V 308 engine in it, the car was done in the early 80's before the 308QV was available. We still service the car regularly. The guy who owns it has had it since new.

love the engine swap, but not crazy about the exterior treatment, those black 308 rims just don't look quite right IMO
i'd love to have one with say a stroked 4.0 QV engine, ITBs on top ...the dino frame is very much just like the 308 frame, so i can see how it would be a non-destructive conversion
