I just flew on US Air and it was the worst flight of my life. I'm joining to use my Air Miles to buy a ticket for the person I hate the most on earth. Then US Air can really give him the screwing that he deservers. Anyone else have wonderful thoughts about the airlines.

    +1 USAir.

I once flew them on vacation. On the return trip from St. Maarten to Charlotte for our connection, the gate agent told an entire plane full of people, after we'd boarded, that the plane wasn't going to Charlotte, it was going to Ft Lauderdale. There would be no connecting flights that day. We'd have to work with the agents in FL the next day to get home. The pilot was mad, the flight attendants were mad, everybody was mad because the agent didn't bother to let ANYBODY know while we all checked in. The crew knew ahead of time and assumed all the passengers had been told. The agent was just going to let the pilot tell us. She was just too lazy to deal with rebooking people. The pilot said, "No way" and made the gate agent come on the plane and deliver the message. My family were the only ones that got off the plane. Glad we don't check luggage.

We made USAir put us on an American flight (that was boarding!) through Miami back to Dallas. We actually got home 1.5 hours earlier than planned, but during the re-routing, I was at the AA gate asking them to wait for us while my wife was at the US gate yelling at their agents to rebook us. We had my 11 yr old running back and forth with messages. It was 45 minutes of tense times but that was better than being stuck over night in a city with no plans.

The CEO of USAIR must have a list of this to do today

    1. Overbook flights
    2. Bump passengers reservations and screw up their seating
    3. Delay all flights
    4. Find the worst food to serve to people
    5. Make seats for a toddler and expect 6' 200lb man to sit in it
    6. Lie to customers about flights
    7. Go to Hospice and locate old ladies to work as Flight Attendents
    8. Double my Salary and pat myself on the back for the great job I do.

All of the above. Flying domestic we are just cattle in coach. Only on long international flights is there any reasonable service, at least in my experience.

US Scare again I just flew International. The seats were worst, the flight attendants looked like they were pulled out of a Hospice, the attendents all had lousey attitudes and bad mouthed their own airline and the food was garbage. All of this for a premium price. I flew on American last year and they were charging $5 for snacks.

We last flew US Air to Toronto for the ALMS race two years ago (I also flew them from DFW-Milan) - no complaints. On the flip side - a couple weeks ago we took the NEW KLM NS route from DFW to Amsterdam, connection to Barcelona - for their fourth day, a little bit late in leaving but no complaints. Taking same flight tomorrow from DFW to AMS, connection to Milan. As with the "other" carriers we've taken international (non-US airlines) we don't have any complaints. Most of the time we fly an Airbus which has a bit more comfortable seats. Lufthansa and KLM we've used out of DFW offer better food, free beer/wine/bailey's/cognac/ice cream snacks/candy, etc. In-seat video with a large number of movies. Biggest benefit is leaving the US and making connections in Europe. Also LH and KLM have terrific departure/return times - KLM especially with the return to DFW at 1:15 pm - there's virtually nobody going thru customs at that time. A real bummer is to fly American and having to pay for a measly snack. One nice thing too is you don't have all the announcements - guess they figure you are smart enough to figure out a life jacket, seat belt, etc. Sorry you had a bad experience.

One of the airlines is now going to be charging an extra $5 for a window or aisle seat!!!

    I guess it's the route

I fly USAir a couple times a year to West Virginia and never had an issue. They even upgraded me to first class once simply because I was nice at the desk over a late flight on Thanksgiving...

Don't even get me started on Delta. I REFUSE to fly that carrier, especially if I am going thru Atlanta.

    I love Southwest

US Airways seems to be the worst rated airline. The CEO is too focused on driving drunk and mergers instead of improving the product.

All airlines are bad (in the US). I travel frequently on business and can say with a high degree of confidence that it simply takes a certain number of trips to have a big misshap in each and everyone of them.

When something bad happens I don'teven get upset anymore. Unfortunately it's the cost of travelling now a days.

[I've been told that Singapur and Emirates airlines are top notch. However my travels don't take me there]

The Biggest lie that USAIR pulls is the seat swapping. You make reservations months in advance and select your seats. Then when you get to the airport you are placed in the back of the plane in a center row death camp. Why should you pay a premium price to fly USScare when you can fly Airtrane or Jet Blue and get the same crappy service. USScare is a flying Death camp. The only saving grace is for each flight I fly on USScare I get 1000 years off of my sentence in Hell when I die.

Virgin America is the best airline going- I'm flying out to D.C. tonight and I'm actually looking forward to it.

At least they have some cool gadgets to play with and a fun flight crew; I didn't really even mind being stuck in the terminal for an hour last time while they downloaded a software update.

If that seat arrangement was on US Air you would have lost 10" of seat room and the tray would have you pinned to the seat.

    Exactly.

Not sure why you guys mess with the other airlines- except if it's for business travel and you have no choice on when you leave. I'm flying Alaska back to L.A.

I flew airoflot once in a Illiushin (or what is it callled) plane. that was scary. Water was dripping down rom the airco system, a panel was missing and was stuffed with blankets. The russians knew that the border passes were useless, you just had to fight to get a good place.... That was back in 1989...

Another bad one was a CAAC (China Airlines) flight from Lhasa. But we had a good laugh, about what to do and what not to do on a plane. They gave us terrrible cookies and very salty thing about which I still dont know what the origens were... and a plastic bag to put the things in.

I even wont mention a flight with a 11 seater plane in Nepal......... That was really scary!

That's obviously the bulkhead seat so it's comparing apples and oranges. You don't have someone reclining a seat 1.5" from your mouth.

True, but I've flown both (bulkhead and a row that was actually shorter than usual) and it's not bad either way. Leather seats by Recaro make a big difference but I think the general feeling here is that all US airlines are going to F you over in some form or another- so far I have yet to hear anything negative about this one.

US Air has lost contact with the traveler. They have turned a traveling into a Hell like experience. They are just shooting themselves in the foot and soon they will all be in the unemployment line.

American tends to have very little leg room (I'm 6'2"). I don't usually have issues with the airlines so much as other travelers, individual employees and certain airports. I hate flying through Atlanta, but recently Boston-Logan jumped to the top of my list of least favorite. What a dump.

us airways never again. After being booted from one plane, we sat on another for 2 hours just to have them say the pilot is over his hours and cannot fly.

    Being patriotic QANTAS is good:)

But QANTAS low budget carrier jetstar isn't so good. Well for short flights i.e. one hour it's okay otherwise not so great. No food, cramped plane and lack of legroom, delays of 1.5 hours.. (this was all on a jetstar flight coming back from Perth). The aircraft was an Airbus A320-232

Next time, and i'll book in advance i'll fly QANTAS. They have 747's on the Melb - Perth route and they have plenty of room, food and are for the most part, on time.
