Anybody knows what this button on the underside of the steering wheel is about ? There is one such button on each side. Image Unavailable, Please Login
I think on the right it changes the input on the stereo and on the left it activates the voice recognition, which doesn't work very well.
+1 To be more precise: - Left side: top button is volume up middle round button activates the voice recognition bottom button is volume down - Right side: top button is next song, station, etc... middle button changes stereo input bottom button is previous song, station, etc... By the way if you activate the voice recognition, how do you turn it off without saying anything?
Don't press the button! It will activate the Passenger Eject function! Image Unavailable, Please Login
Ferrari should really engage Apple to design its infotainment . Too complicated and too many switches here there and everywhere !
The middle left button is also used to accept incoming phone calls. PS. The entire lay out is the same on my Fiat Abarth. So you don't have to pay a lot to get the convenience of this system
Does the Abarth have the same buttons in the US? It's completely different in Europe It's in quite a few modern cars from the Chrysler Group though
My Abarth is a US car. The buttons and operation are exactly the same as the 458. Nothing wrong with that. It is pretty intuitive, and when I got the Abarth, I found I did not have to consult the manual.
So what If it is?...It works well having the stereo volume control on the rear of the wheel, should be grateful that Ferrari have actually thought of doing this. I would love that they would make one of the centre buttons a mute one, so you can swap between engine noise & stereo a little easier mind you Don't really get a lot of the criticism of the whole system really, yes its not that great but its a long way on from the becker/bose stuff of the last generation. The two screens either side of the rev counter work pretty well, and I for one have taken the time to figure it out, and don't have a problem using it at all, find it all works pretty well if you take the time to play with it.
Me neither, but then I also haven't needed the manual for the 458, a few minutes sat in the car playing with the controls was all that was needed. Its a fairly basic system. To be honest don't quite understand the need to ask what these buttons do, surely first port of call is to actually bother to investigate yourself, sit in the car & press them a few times and see what it is they do, easier than taking a picture & posting it Sorry I don't mean that to sound rude, don't mean it that way at all, it just surprises me that people don't take the time to figure this stuff out
Me neither. I always push the BIG knob on the right (under the infotainment screen) to answer calls. Call me. Hope I life long enough to learn all the things the electric gizmos do on the 458. Avg life expectancy is only about 12 yrs. May not be long enough. LOL
Eddy Cue of Apple joined Ferrari's Board of Directors last November. Hopefully, this will eventually result in some more intuitive infotainment controls in Fcars.
