Not sure but looks to me like a test box, I bet all the holes are wired to the pins on the ECU connector. You then plug the ECU into one side of the box and the car into the other. Then as you drive etc you can use a meter to check levels between specific pins, attach an oscillascope or data logger to try to work out what might be wrong/right with the car.

Don't think its an SD2, they look "more intelligent" - LCD screen etc.

It's a breakout box. Either that or a waffle iron.

No, I'm pretty sure it's a breakout box.

Then again... did anybody bring some syrup?

Nope. Looks like the ABS test box (for 348 up through 1995 355) to me.

    The SD2 looks like this:

Cool That's a Bosch 55 pin breakout box. It is used to back probe the ECU to do real troubleshooting. Do you want to sell it? Very few mechanics know how to use one. If you don't have a use for it contact me at [email protected]. I have used them to back probe into sensors like the Cam sensor to capture O-socpe traces on a digital scope. Then I don't need the SD2 idiot box. I can take sysmptoms and narrow down possible areas of problems an back probe the ecu while running to compare current to past scope traces. It is a quick way to pick out bad sensors. The SD does the same thing but is made for techs so they don't need to think. Most techs still just replace parts at your expsense and still get it wrong. Yup I'm a cynic. You have a very cool rare tool. Count the number of pins on your unit. I am not sure if the early and late 355's which used different motronic box have the same number of pins. I think they do. You can buy these from guys like Baum tool but so few people know how to use them that nobody buys them. Thus they are costly.

    Actually... I think that's an ST05, not an SD2.

88 pins !!! This is the number of pins for a 5.2 Motronic. This item is a breakout box for Motronic 5.2 sensors and actuators diagnostic.

It is a Ferrari tool. I have one just like it. I don't recall what it fits. Most of mine have a tool number so I know what it is but that one does not.. I've used it just don't remember on what. There are a lot of break out boxes.
