While cleaning the underside of my handbrake console, I noticed this covered hole, apparently for some type of lever switch. I have never seen this option pictured before.
Can anyone share it's purpose and perhaps a photo of what goes here? I am guessing it's for a manual choke setup.

I am also wondering if the interior grained vinyl material (pictured) is available anywhere. My inner rocker pieces were folded and have some creases that may or may not come out.
Is there a good source of exact replacement stuff?

Choke slide control - early models had the choke located there.

Correct. My 1972 Euro has the choke control in that location. I bought the "long-grain" interior vinyl from Dennis McCann
a few years ago. You might try calling him to see if he has any in inventory.

    Jim and Bob,
Thanks for the info on the lever and the tip on the interior vinyl. I called McCann's and they are sending me a sample. FYI their vinyl comes in a 55" wide roll, and the grain runs with the roll.
    Best,
    Jon

I bought correct/matching interior vinyl 3-4 years ago (when I redid my center console) from Re-Originals; you might try them also if the McCann sample doesn't seem correct. BTW, agree w/ others r/e the "slot"- it's where my choke lever is (69 L-series).
