Hi there, I dont have an owners manual and the scanned version I found online is for a different year and end market. This is in my 85 euro GTS. It is always on when the key is on suggesting it might just be grounded out somewhere. Any tips on which circuit I should look at? Thanks! Mike Image Unavailable, Please Login
That's your brake system warning light. You could be down on fluid or something more serious could be happening.
Yes it could be the sensor in the top of the brake fluid reservoir but it is also connected to the handbrake switch and the PDWA valve. So it should only be on when the handbrake is pulled unless there's a fault with one of the above. If it's not obvious then you could disconnect the pink wire from each of these and see if the light goes off otherwise it's a fault in the wiring harness (it was with mine). The PDWA is located on the bulkhead above the steering rack, probably LHS on a LHD car. If you suspect this then make sure the sensor isn't making a circuit. Sometimes ham fisted mechanics cause the internal shuttle to get off centre when they bleed the brakes and this needs to be re-centralized. Otherwise gently pry up the black plastic sensor with a screwdriver and make sure the hole isn't full of rust and or brake fluid. You can clean it out with meths and a cotton bud.
Thanks all! Time to bust out the wiring diagram. I have replaced many of the components in the brake system including the fluid reservoir and brake pressure valve/switch but I have not investigated the hand brake. Cheers Mike
