Check your brake fluid level and if low, see if topping it up makes it go away.

The other thing to check is to see if your pads are worn down, but usually once the low pad indicator comes on, it can't be turned off and can only be reset by replacing the sensor (it's a plastic coated contact; when it contacts the metal rotor, the plastic goes away, exposing the metal underneath, which closes a circuit).

Is it possible your owners manual might have a suggestion ?

The car just received its major service 3 months ago and it was noted that all of the pads were still over 60% good.

Is it too harsh to say 'then don't check them'? You have been given the answer, it is a brake warning. You can either have it looked at or not, your choice.

If it is the brake fluid, what is the proper brake fluid to use?

I use RBF600 but most any good quality fluid will work. Do you track the car? If so you have different needs. When was the last time it was changed?

The wear sensor has a wire. Is that rubbing and worn through on any wheel? You need to read the code. It will help narrow it down.

DOT4 brake fluid. I used ATE Gold at my last brake fluid flush. It's a high quality and reasonably priced DOT4 fluid.

I have also seen this light come on maybe two or three times, but mine has only briefly flashed under hard braking. I think it's because pads are due to be changed soon.
