Can anyone identify this part is located as shown in the photographs?

I cannot find it in the TAVs, so I assume it is non-factory, but I can't figure out what they might be (they are on both sides of the dashboard).

They seem to have metal "hair" suggesting they are magnetic and therefore tweeter speakers, but that location fires directly into the door armrest and would be useless. I can't think of anything else.

    I am stumped.

Maybe a buzzer for an alarm or radar detector (not needing high-fidelity)? Have you followed the wires to see where they go?

Working on the trace right now. Car never had an alarm (that I know of).

If nothing else, I just want to confirm they are non-factory. … so I can cut off the wires.

Looks like some kind of a magnetic pick-up device for when the door opens it trigger something or I could be completely way off about this.

Secret microphone planted by the CIA? ;) Pretty sure it's non-factory. You say "they" -- you have one on each side?

Gawd. They trace right back to my power amp. Probably tweeters.

I suspect a genius installer saw that as a perfect location with the doors open. Spent a bunch of time installing them, closed the door and immediately said, “oops”.

CIA? Yeah. I would now like to get the CIA involved to find the perpetrator.

    I’m cutting the wires.

Far too many stereo installers are to electricians, as tow truck drivers are to mechanics.

All this crazy wire makes me question the polarity of my speakers. If I were real fanatical, I would pull off my door cards and trace. I am NOT that fanatical.

I think I have finally removed all vestiges of prior audio systems. … I have said this several times before.

I am fortunate; there is no permanent damage from any of the past travesties.

Per miketauson, they may not be tweeters but stereo installer number 2 or number 3 saw the wires and hooked them to the amp.

At any rate, I can cut off all the crap, crimp simple extension wires back on to the factory harness speaker wires and run the extensions to the power amp.

More likely piezo electric horns for an aftermarket alarm system.

I am tempted to run some power through them to see what happens, but "what happens" might be a fire if they are tweeters. Each cable had an in-line capacitor which might narrow down the possibilities.
