Every F-Car component you've covered here, except this (or respectfully, I missed that thread) Btw, major thanks to Goth, Weasel, jet/enginefxr, etc for the informative posts (and killer comedy btw) big fan truly inspired to upgrade member status/purchase 355 in 2009 Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login
Looks like an aftermarket Alpine stereo remote controller. By the way... that's your first post in 4 years?!
have the same thing...by SONY....it's the control unit for the stereo...I did removed mine...in the way I also removed the cigarette lighter & replaced a 12 volt meter...to keep an eye @ all times on my battery condition took the electric supply from the mirror controls
Definately Sony from about 9 years ago, they were usually fitted onto the steering column. It you wish to remove it, it unclips by pushing lightly to one side then the base is held in place by either a white sticky pad or 2 small screws. The cable plugs into a 3.5mm jack plug in the back of the Radio.
On the bright side, that little plastic trim piece (where the mirror switch is) is really quite cheap. If the installer drilled/butchered the remote onto there, replacement is only about $30 at Ricambi America, using genuine Ferrari parts : http://www.ricambiamerica.com/product_info.php?products_id=243403
It's called a six-speed. That's what people who can actually drive use, instead of flappy steering wheel paddles
+1 ............on the sony controller .......... though in case anyone needs it, I have a 'concours condition' ....... '355F1 tool kit' for sale ............. Image Unavailable, Please Login
Yup you are all correct it is a Sony controller but it was called a heads up controller, meaning that when an individual was driving there was no need to look down to the stereo which could possibly take your attention away from a potential disaster, just place your fingers on the controller and everything is at your finger tips. I have one in my BMW and newer version in my Porsche and soon one in my Ferrari. They are extremely handy when driving at speed on the highway.
