Last year my wife visited Pisa, Italy, she saw these Ferraris on a local F meeting, I arrived the day after. Is it a 208 turbo in the pictures, and is the bumpers and the airintakes behind the doors original ? How many of those 208s were made? can they be brought into the country? if so about how much would it take to get one?
Hi guys. The 208, GTS and 208 Turbo are in fact 308 with reduced engine capacity, from 3.000 cc to 2.000 cc, for tax reasons -less tax-. The engine is the same but with less power. There's a 208 Turbo -with turbo, logically- that produces more or less the same power than a 308. The external appearance of the 208 and 208 Turbo is quite the same as the 308, except for the NACA duct in the left side, and a rear muffler cover slight different. The 208 Turbo has more ventilation holes at the rear and black front grilles. The last version of the 208 was named GTS, and is like a 328, interior and exterior. Practically is a 328 but with a 2.000 cc Turbo engine. As the 308 there are carbed versions -older ones- and injected versions. The prices in Italy for these cars are high, but usually they start on 26.000 euro, depending the condition, until 50.000 eur.
In Italy at that time the amount of Tax you paid for the car depended on the displacement of the engine. So Ferrari made the 2 litre engine for that year to compensate. Very few of them made and even fewer Turbos.
I dont know if that split bumper is original, but i made one for my 308 out of fiberglass and aluminum.... Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login
