Whichever it is, I don't like it. The proportions are all wrong.

The texture of the car vs the rest of the pic makes it look like a rendering to me.

Thanks El Wayne... The sad part is friends who know I love Ferrari posted this for me and all said they loved it! Unfortunately the "horsey label" is all consuming these days.

Badge on fender, not on hood. Interesting ideas in there but there is also clash.

The "C" pillar/rear fender area reminds me of an early NSX concept car around 2005.

Looks to me like someone's take on what a modern 250 GTO might look like, what with the nose scoops, side vents and pronounced rear haunches.

Is that supposed to be a mirror on the fender??

    I vote (strongly) that it's a render.

That said, the look is pure concept car rather than production. Wheels too close to arches (no clearance and arches not offset enough). Cabin looks too low vs. beltline with too much rake in windshield, though not by much (perhaps just a perspective issue). Door handle looks wrong.

I actually think it's pretty nicely done, though not all that creative. If those are side mirrors, however, and intended to be video based, there are more aerodynamic ways to do that if you're going to eliminate the mirrors themselves and go camera.

As others have said, it is a rendering. The artist has a full set of renderings of this car from a bunch of different angles.

Hi John, I often read the design thread and have often wanted to ask you this: do these photoshop mashups drive you nuts when people refer to them as designs?

    It's from 2010. It's called the 612 GTO.

Ferrari had a Design contest back in 2011 so it might of entered that too. It's not photoshop these are proper 3D models. This is the type of stuff you need to design to get noticed in the industry.

It worked for this particular designer as he now works at Bugatti as head of exterior design creative development.

Here is a more recent design of his ;)

How did you guess ? :)

Everyone with a computer & photoshop/Alias is a 'designer' it would seem
Some of the work is pretty cool..........others..not so much
It's an assemblage of parts & pieces with a slick shiny rendering
I do think it's pretty cool that with today's technology it allows individuals from all over the globe to try their hand at doing their interpretation of what cars can look like
Believe it or not there is some great work coming out of Russia & the former Eastern Bloc nations where there was very little automotive culture until recently.
Those young aspiring guys and gals spend a great deal of their time learning how to use the software.......ain't the Internet great?

I guess what concerns me (disclaimer: I'm an architect) is some think these 'pretty pictures' are somehow related to something buildable. But then again I think back to some of my teenage doodling and think you have to dream before you can fly. I just wonder if more time on the reality of manufacturing and less photoshop might help the industry?

Certainly true, but I believe the majority of the work I see online is by amatures just having fun, where there are no constraints; cost, mfg. or otherwise.

If you want your rendering to look realistic, at least make sure you put the "GOODYEAR" name on the tyre side-wall the right way up!

The name should read "GOODYEAR" the right way up when it's at the top of the tyre, and be upside down when it's at the bottom of the tyre! - The complete opposite of that shown in the "Ferrari" pictures posted!
