    I am in the market for a 99 or older 550 (4.2 sec 0-60, vice 4.7)
Due to the pre-cat exhaust restriction imposed in 2000.

What is with the 550 that it gets no repect?

Much more exclusive than the 360.

It is a beautiful design (ok, it smiles)

    It is very well built.

    It is extreamly fast

    Whats the deal?

    Why can I buy a 99 550M for 120-130k, the same for a 360?

For the same reason you can buy a pristine Testarossa for around the same price as a higher mileage 246 GT (which has half the cylinders)... That's just the way the cookie crumbles...

As a side note, i think this is the first time i've seen someone gripe about how cost effective a Ferrari is... :)

Thats the market....dont complain about it. Its just a function of supply and demand. Mostly, I think it is based on the image of the 550 being an "old mans Ferrari"...not as hip as a 360, lets say. This is the most common sentiment I have heard regarding the difference between the desirability of the two.

Just take advantage of this situation and laugh all the way to the bank!!

I firmly believe the 550 is one hell of a bargain, although Im definately a little biased ;)

But I'm sure if you WANT to pay more for a 550 than a 360, you can find someone to make the deal.

Hell, I'll sell you my 2000 model for more than a new 430, if you wish. :)

The price comparison of the 550 and 360 is interesting only in that it may predict future collect ability and declining value of the 550. This whole statement is purely academic since I am going to buy a 550 regardless of these factors and am very happy that I can pick one up $130k.

Being 33 years old, I will be proud to be the owner of an “old man’s Ferrari”!

Just enjoy the price variance between 550's and 360's.
I would think that at some point you would see a 550/575 price firm up and eventually escalate when the 360 prices would continue to decline. I am basing this purely on production numbers and really extrapolating out a long time. It may not happen though. Anyway, I love my 550 and am biased. Anyway, I don't think any of us buy these things based on future values.
