What I do know first hand is that I'm married to a Human Resource woman who has her master degree in the field and neither term is acceptable to use ever!

 

I think the point is a pretty simple one: as "loungy" and informal as the EC thinks the NYTS forum is, there are a number of new people that come to this section to browse, with the hopes of becoming part of this community. Some of them do clearly take offense to the slang that is used here. Many of them to the point that they either don't participate, or participate briefly but then don't stay. I don't particularly care for the terms "*****," "*****," "vagina" either. I think jakes-gto's suggestions are good ones, and are worth following.

I would add two other points:

- Know When To Joke and When Not To: many serious questions posted denegrate into nothing but lames jokes and one-liners. We're all a good-humored bunch, but when somebody poses a serious question, please respect that person's attempt to find a serious answer.

- Keep Stuff On Topic: Another frustration I've heard from users. A simple question asked gets completely side-swiped through user comments, resulting in some interesting information at times, but often no answers to the question posed.

I'm guilty of both the points I mentioned above and probably more, but in light of the discussion on constructive ways to improve this sub-forum, we should all make a conscious effort to be mindful of all of the above.
