I have a bottle on my counter… need to crack it open. It’s been there a long time.

Just asked my local spot to order a bottle and it jumped over $100 bottle from a few months ago. Over $250 so I said skip it.

That’s the game. You have to find the gems and enjoy them before the word gets out. Rinse and repeat.

Funny enough, I also just bought this bottle on Friday! It’s my first Fuenteseca purchase and I was also a little nervous about that price for a blanco. I haven’t really drank it much but I’m excited to!
One of my local bars has some of the aged Fuentesecas and those have been great!

Great stuff. The Fuentaseca line is hard to find in my area and this was the 1st I’ve seen. I bought it in Charleston SC. There were only two bottles and I wish I had gotten both now.

I’m lucky, the stores near me have a few of the different Fuentesecas. My next splurge bottle might have to be one of their XA

It’s a solid bottle! I’ve only had it a couple times so it’s still a pretty full bottle :(

Hard to go wrong with anything by El Tesor. There limited editions are usually great.

Got a single barrel El Tesoro Anejo as a gift the other day. This one was aged in scotch barrels and you can definitely tell. Happy to have something a little different in the collection!

But I don't want my Tequila to taste anything like scotch. If you want to taste scotch, just drink scotch?

It still tastes like tequila and has the agave flavors it just also shows a little of the barrel characteristics and in this case its a scotch barrel. I have quite a few different bottles of tequila so it’s nice to add something that’s a little different.

Most tequila is aged in bourbon barrels so by your logic you might as well just drink bourbon.

Great thing about tequila is that there are a lot of different bottles out there so you can always find something you like and not waste time with bottles you might not like.

I am a reposado man. Aged in white oak barrels like Patron, Casa Noble or Siete Leguas. The dark color in anjejo is from burnishing/burning the oak barrels. Very few use bourbon casks for aging. And silvers are aged in stainless steel. No color at all.

Totally understand wanting something different in your Tequila cellar. Try Jose Cuervo Mi Familia Extra Anjejo, they use molasses and it creates an amazing flavor profile, with added caramel nuances. I DO NOT drink any other Jose Cuervo tequilas, they are not very good. The Mi Familia is about $150 a bottle, all numbered & they sell out every year. If you have a chance to sample, you will not be disappointed.

    Have a great day!

Reposado is a good way to go. I think my collection is more blanco and Anejo right now so I need to mix in a few more repos. I have a few openings on the shelf so will probably go restock soon.

I’ve always heard about the de la familia but never tried it. Always wanted to try it though. Will keep an eye out for it to try at a bar
