For me its not living up to the standards i've set for myself or not "making it" in life. I dream of one day having a family, a nice house and a good car collection but it really worries me that one day i'll look back and realize i haven't achieved everything i want to and it'll be too late

I hate snakes, spiders and scorpions too ;)

Drowning, falling from a very high place, and losing a child/spouse to death. Not in any particular order.

Drowning is scary as sh** because I can barely swim and hate open water. I HATE turbulence on flights too, scares me half to death every time (suddenly I become religious).

I'm with you on that one. Hit a stopped semi in a Kia years ago, while I was going 65.
How I didn't remove my head is still a mystery. Took me a good 6 months before I had
driving confidence back again. First crash of any kind, ever - after 30 years of driving.
    It affects you.

Losing my creative voice/having nothing new to say artistically, thus becoming irrelevant in both the toy and horror movie industries.

    Suffocating.

My biggest fear used to be burning alive. I work around fire a lot so I've largly gotten over that. Now my biggest fear is failure and not living up to the expectations I have set for myself.

Mine used to be failure, poverty, aloneness, stuff along those lines. Was also scared of flying, and the prospect of world nuclear war hung over the 50's-early 60's like a shroud.

Now, add rotting away with Alzheimer's or dementia to the above, except for commercial flying, which ceased to bother me long ago.

    Pull the plug!

my greatest fear is being inadequate. I try to be the best at everything i do, whether it's work, playing sports, being a good friend or being a good loving partner. If I fail, then I'm hard on myself and get down on myself. I got this mentality from my background in sports and motocross. Always being the most competitive person out there, giving it 100%. Even with mx, when I raced professionally, I'd keep riding nonstop and pushing myself to the limits until I got the lap time I was looking for, or the trick I was working on, down pat.

Interestingly enough, i'm also scared of going up a ladder

Being in a car on fire in an airplane that crashes into a vast jungle river, releasing spiders and
snakes and bees as the burning car exits the crashing plane, floats while on fire and is
slowly filling with water, only to fall 3000 feet over a high waterfall and I am slowly
drowning before hitting the rocks at the bottom. As I crawl barely alive from the wreckage,
nearly drowned and with full-body burns, someone hits me in the head with a claw
hammer, crushing my skull, just as a scorpion is sitting on my face, stinging me.

    Crap.

... being spared that seat in the jet that kissed the earth at over 400mph. Instead I am sentenced to live a life in a failing body in some rest home where I'm set aside and away of normal functioning society, an inconvenience to the able bodied as they go about their life, an inconvenience to the caretaker as they are about to end their shift. It's only natural, none of the abled bodied want to have and old decrepit family member holding up their lives. I'm just there, waiting to expire and in great pain the whole time. My mind still aware of the surroundings around me, the desire to live life as I am doing now continues, yet, my body is shutting down, my tongue and mouth no longer move to make communication. My muscles too weak to move once active arms, hands and legs. Frustrating. A cruel joke toward the end of the line. A mind full of wisdom stuck in an failing incapacitated body. I'll take that ticket now.

something happening to close friends (ie death).

Becoming paralyzed is probably one of the worst fears of something that can happen to myself. Dying in a horrible way like drowning isn't particularly good either but at least after that there's nothing any more....

Cancer scares the crap out of me. I have watched it take the lives of the young quickly. Watched my uncle die from cancer when I was 12 y/o and I think that has stuck with me. He was 39 when he went and making it to 40 was a big deal for me as I was certain I would die at 39 too.

My mother is a miser. I have nightmares that she will live and die and never enjoy herself because she is afraid to spend money (I am not talking about 50 bucks either I am talking about nickles) I kid you not it's like she would rather die than to go broke. I have never met anyone as frugal as she is. I sent some guys down to fix some stuff on her house because Last time I was there she had the front hadrail attached with some old string because she didn't want to buy nails. She calls me crying that she can't afford to pay the people who are fixing it. I tell her it's free. She screams as if in fear... nothing is free.... and hangs up. It has become a lot worse since she has grown older.

But the uncertainty is gone from the situation. If you fall from a high place what is the outcome going to be? I am pretty sure you will die so whats to worry? No pain right? It's like a fear of flying, whats to be afraid of? If the plane goes down your done, pretty simple really. Anything other than that will be a pleasant surprise.

The worry is over the terror experienced between uh-oh and splat.

My biggest fear is loosing my parents someday.
