What kind of exhaust note do you like?

I love mine at the moment. No mufflers, pipes from the cat back. Sounds like a turbo car at idle(which im not fond of) But at high rpm, has that awesome F1 scream that i love!!!!

how about a sound sample?

 

360 with a capristo exhaust probably tops my list as the best sounding car ever. Everything from its idle, to acceleration, deceleration and downshifts are very close to the F1 sound. The 360 is like Celine Dion. Once she hits the high notes, her voice is just orgasmic. I'm sure a 360 with the kriessieg also sounds just as amazing. Many will argue that the CGT is F1 sounding, but i feel that the note is too muffled, and Formula one cars are not muffled. The F430 comes in at second best, but in my opinion has the most unique sound I have ever heard. Not as F1 sounding as the 360 with the capristo, but the sound encompasses such as wide range of frequencies from low, baritone bassy notes to a somewhat high pitch soprano/ alto sound. It almost sounds like the the car is singing. I would say that the F430 is the Andrea Bocelli of cars.The F430 is more of a symphony, while the 360 is a soundtrack to the Monaco Grand Prix. The 355, F50 and Challenge Stradale also have very amazing exhaust notes.

The downshift in a Tubi-ed 550 Maranello is to die for... Idle in a Tubi-ed 550 Maranello is a very close second...

Anywhere in the rev range, in any gear - but preferably downshifting - in a Tubi-ed Testarossa, yields a symphony of sounds that could never be replicated...

 

I've been curious to hear what the 365 sounds like. Where would I be able to find a soundclip of one? Thanks

Rent or buy the movie "Gumball Rally", turn up the volume and listen to the Daytona Spider wail, especially at the start of the race and through New York City.

I have to agree that all the choices mentioned below (430, 360 etc., with or without after-market exhaust) sound awesome, but I'm going to give a little "shout out" (pun fully intended) to my first Ferrari, my beautiful 308 QV. Pure stock, but that low rumble just goes right to my soul... Guess that's what it's all about. One day soon, I'll graduate to the 360 I hope and my appreciation will only grow no doubt!

That Daytona sound in the tunnel is fantastic! Is the exhaust stock?

I have removed my center mufflers, using only the rear resonators. I like the sound that way, although you lose some of that characteristic "whooooo" sound that comes with the stock exhaust.

I like a soft deep, yet powerful sound, like Pavarotti.
My 85' qv with stock exhaust is great but not quite deep enough.

 

The 365 is what sound is for.

The exhaust is fairly stock. At the time of the test drive, the rear resonators were a bit rusty and riddled with holes, so the car was a little louder than it is now, but not much! I had Wayne Sparling's son re-skin them before the car was shipped out west.

what do you use to get a digital sound sample ? Video Cam ?

 

There are tools that allow you to extract the audio from a digital video camera. There are also standalone DAT recorders and MP3 players that record in decent quality. I'd love to find a decent inexpensive (<$100) wireless microphone setup for my video camera so I can put the mic at the back near the exhaust!

I prefer the bone stock 360 cs...

 

I love a low end grunt then the typical ferrari scream in high RPM. Watch the dyno video to see what im talking about. This car has our exhaust manifolds installed, the collector makes such a differnce in exhaust note.
