    What did/does it look like under the flywheel? Since you are in that deep wouldn't you just replace both anyway? (The tapered pins holding the throw-out bearing "fork" onto the shaft can be unremovable without destroy them.)

    No need to remove them, unless one really wanted to. It'll rotate outta the way. The carrier pops out easy enough, but the input shaft will need to come out to make it easier.

    Nearly impossible to get seal over shaft without folding lip back otherwise.
