What lift do you use at home?

Bought a Rotary because it was US made.
Upon assembly found Made in China stickers.
Figures, the price was too good.
I really do like it because in my garage everything had to be adjusted to a gnat's whisker.
This Rotary has adjustments screws for infinite adjustability.
There are only a few US made ones left.
I would have liked to buy a US product.

 

Mine's a low-rise, from Eagle Equipment, as they were local (for the sake of delivery).
They no longer market that model, which was virtually a direct copy of the Bend-Pak.

Whichever one made it, there are no "made in China" stickers on it.

 

Direct lift pro-park 8 plus. Its a great lift and very adjustable to level the platforms even if your floor is sloped. Very reasonable price and high quality. Check out Gregg Smith Equipment.

Great lift...the net is full of stories/photos of Chinese 4-post lifts dropping cars but it is most likely operator error...you must adjust the lift so that all 4 safety catches engage at exactly the same time and verify that they are all released as you lower it. If one corner remains engaged on the way down - watch out.

I have two 4 post perfect park 7000's and a Greg Smith 2 post 9000. I really like my decisions on both.

 

Pro Park 7 (7000 lb) 4 post lift. Easy to set up and works like charm. Very pleased with it.

 

Another vote for a Direct Lift pro-park 8p. I also have two 3500lb jacks from direct lift on the 4 poster to raise the vehicle off the lift.

Very good quality lift. Apparently there is an American Lift Institute that certifies lifts to be able to lift 1.5 times their rated capacity, and the Direct lift, as well as the ones from Rotary and Bend Pak are on the list. Make sure IMHO to go with a "certified" lift.

Direct Lift is owned by Rotary, and the lift is assembled in China with American Steel (allegedly).

I have a Snap-On scissor lift, 9K lbs. capacity. The problem with it is that it has a solid platform that is under the mid-section of the car, so if I need access to that area (which seems to happen often), I have to lower the car onto jack stands to get the platform out of the way. If I had the room, I would get a 4 post lift, like a Backyard Buddy that a friend has. But I don't, so I make do with the scissor lift, which is great for most of what I do in my home garage.

 

Bendpak single post for storage and Bendpak 2-post for working on the cars.

I currently have a 4 post with jack bridges and have come to love it for all the things you can do with it. I'm buying a new house (OK, I'm buying a garage with living space attached). The new house has a bendpak 2 post I'm buying because the owner has put radiant heat in the floor and I can't drill for anything else....

so, how well does the 2 post fit under the Ferrari. I've heard of others who have had to make ramps to drive the car onto to get the arms underneath... Did you make any special saddles for the arms to grab the frame?

I haven't had the 360 on the 2-post lift, runs like clockwork - knock on wood. But for my Alfa race car which is super low I used my home made wooden ramps. Though, I don't think that would be necessary with the 360 - my guess is the arms will fit underneather no problem. It may also depend on which 2-post model you have...

I have a Bend Pak 6,000 Lb. Single Post Parking Lift. While more expensive than a 4 post, love not having to deal with posts is the center of my garage.

I've got a 2 post in the hanger. The Mondial fit, but the 430 didn't. The solution:

Pull out the arms, cut them down, remachine the arms to take a better fit, and now it works just time.

Found this 2 post, 7000# lift, that works on 110, for 500 dollars. Great deal.

Eagle 4 post.....bought it around 1994, I think. No problems. It has large casters so it can be moved around.

Really? Chinese? I have Rotary 2- and 4-post lifts, installed by the regional dealer 3 yrs ago. I find no evidence of Made in China stickers, etc. I bought Rotary at that time because they were (supposedly) US-made, with a good dealer network. They added on another year of the factory warranty since I had them do the install.

 

Sections of the new San Francisco Bay Bridge are being manufactured in ... China. Shall we refuse to use the bridge when it is finished? That would be a funny reaction, would it not?

 

I currently have 3 lifts at my house. All 4 post. All made in China and all work flawlessly. All 3 are different brands but are identical in every way except color. I think they are all imported by Eagle Equipment and resold under different brand names

 

I bought an "AMERICAN" lift from American equipment. It is two pole #9000 asymetric lift that really was easy to install and I park in it every day and can store my other car up top and was only $1100.00. Oh and by the way it was made in China and didn't know it until I unwrapped it and it had all metric bolts and funny colored cardboard. But it works wonderful.

 

I have the 4-post Rotary Revolution lift.

Installed by the regional dealer about 5 years ago.

Been perfect. I keep my 65 Corvette convertible parked on top.

I have an Autolifters 4-post. (Now defuct company.) Also made in the USA.
Very safe design, good features, heavy construction. Oversized ram, bearings in the pulleys instead of bushings, 220 volt motor.

No problem getting replacement parts because they are all "industry standards" used on most of the other lifts out there.

Mine is the "standard" size, which, If I had to do it over again, I would have gotten the "SUV" size. My TR barely fits on this one and I could use another 8 to 12" of height on occasion.
