So this 348 challenge is on eBay and was for sale here shortly. Has higher miles and worn interior but overall does not seem horrid. Surely needs to have engine out service done most likely and interior freshened up but overall seems like could be a diamond in the rough. Being a challenge seems like if one was in the market this would be a great buy now and in the long run for keeping value and hopefully increasing in value. What are your all thoughts.

Here is the link to the car.

I would bid on that, if I needed another in the stable. :)

Look again engine out service has been done. That looks like a very nice solid driver ready for the first spring drives in 2 months. So you got 2 months to clean up the interior and go have fun! The 348 is very well sorted. There are no problems we can't figure out or have not solved. I will be extremely surprised if that car only goes for $25k.

Engine out service done this summer by some jackleg shadetree mechanic...oh wait, that would be me....so, you get five years of troublefree use before the next one is done. I have bid on this car, but unfortunately I don't have enough cash right now to pay full value. Too many already in the garage.
This is a very solid, straight car. Deegee drove it back to KC from SoCal in 115deg heat with no problem upon completion of the service. I rode halfway with him. No leaks, no burps, no farts.
The interior is very presentable, but not concours, so you don't have to give passengers instructions. Just jump in and drive it like ya stole it.
Challenge cars are very rare, so likely to increase in value moreso than others.
You can pm me about the car IF you are a serious buyer.

"What makes this challenge a poor choice?"

I don't understand why you would assume it to be or want it to be a poor choice. Asking the internet to criticize something they haven't seen in person just seems wrong.
Nothing personal here I just need a cup of coffee. :)

I think he was referring to the price that it is going for. Very low I would think, but with you vouching for the major, it will have a better chance of increasing in value. People do pay attention to comments made here about our cars, it does make a difference, IMO.

My fault not reading info about major. Totally missed that part. I am referring to price just seems to be to good to be true. Knowing someone here has done major is comforting. Wasn't looking for car but saw this ad. Showed wife, her response was its pretty and wow only 25k. Seems like would be great car to get into f-car world with and if fix up few items could even come out ahead when sell later for a 360 or 430. Guess all depends on final price. Wish I wasn't in middle of remodeling bathroom and bedroom would have cash sitting around. Ah, decisions. Damn the Internet.

I expect the price will jump before the auction ends. It's tempting me, and I didn't even think I was in the market for such a car.

    I tend to agree unfortunately.

It has 65,000 miles, and no interior pics , and the add mentions the interior is getting tired.

This car will need some TLC now, not just a belt change / service.

I hope he gets more though.

Isn't the owner on this site ?

Guy who did very recent belt service on site.
60k mi on a 348 is nothing. 3k per year, good exercise.
Instead of watching it go downhill, you can make it even better. All you can do with a perfect car is wax it and count new imperfections.
Rare car, fully serviced, berlinetta, red/tan. Hard to criticize.

I would buy it in a second!...... but I ran an estimate for shipping and taxes to bring it to Puerto Rico, and the car would end up costing me about $50,000.00 (If I bought at the current $25,400.00 price) :(

Great car with service done. The only thing I would modify would be the wheels and enjoy a great car :)

#14 is my car and nothing makes "this challenge a poor choice". There has been a ton of interest including multiple offers over $30k to end it early. If there are any questions I recommend calling either myself or maybe sending a PM to Bruce (Plugzit) as he is also very familiar with this car and Challenge 348's in general. I'll be available all day tomorrow to answer your questions. Someone will be the proud new owner tomorrow night. Best of luck!

I think it's a very attractive example. I would certainly be interested if I were still in the market...at well over $30k, too! :)
